Wing Commander IV SILENOS SYSTEM
DEFECT
Silenos 1a
Notes
- With such a lot of fighters coming at you, you need to stick close to your wingmen and the Intrepid. You especially need to take out the Longbows before they can launch torpedoes at the Intrepid. It is a large battle, but you aren't outnumbered.
Outcome
Success go to Silenos 2a. Failure you lose.

Notes
- The Border Worlds fighters are new to you so check them out in the ships database before flying them. There are a lot of fighters to handle so I'd advise flying an Avenger which is the Border Worlds equivalent of the Longbow. Plenty of missiles and it can take a beating.
Outcome
Success / Failure go to Silenos 3a.

Silenos 3a
Notes
- There are a lot of Longbows to face, however if you take out the Lexington early on you won't have to face the subsequent waves. You can either destroy it with guns and torpedoes or you can leech it. To leech a ship, press H while on a ship with a leech cannon and then fire away. The ship's selection box will turn gray when it is disabled. When the Lexington is out of the action, take out the remaining Longbows, then land.
Outcome
Success / Failure go to Orestes 1.

Notes
- You are outnumbered almost everywhere here which makes for quite a battle. The best ship for this mission depending on your flying style may be the Longbow since it has lots of missiles and can take quite a pounding which is a plus considering you're highly likely to take a pounding here.
Outcome
Success / Failure go to Silenos 2b.

Notes
- Once again you have a battle where you are outnumbered so the advice for this mission is the same as the last mission.
Outcome
Success / Failure go to Silenos 3b.
Silenos 3b
Notes
- You have no choice but to defect in this mission. Take out the Lexington's escorts, then the Lexington itself. You'll have Catscratch, Maniac, and another Border Worlds pilot for help so you won't be outnumbered.
Outcome
Success go to Pasqual 1.
Comment on a mission

Mission : Silenos 3b
Comments : Actually there is a way to finish the game and not defect from Confed. Decline Eisen's request and then after shooting down Maniac, Eject. You will be taken to disc 6 and to a rather depressing ending of the game.

Mission : Silenos 1b and 2b
Comments : Nightmare tips: You can fail 1b and still move on.On 2b Seether is invincible- tell him to attack while you fly away from enemies- engage only when necessary. Heavy fighters are sitting ducks since 1missile=death anyway +it's tough to avoid missiles

Mission : 3b
Comments : You can get that ending if you eject on any of the ConFed missions.

Mission : Silenos 3a
Comments : correction: mission Silenos 3a must be accomplished to proceed to Orestes 1.

Mission : RE: epic fail
Comments : The fail string doesn't come up if you eject from every mission. I'm not sure which mission it is but I've ejected before to recieve a bollocking from Eisner before continuing the story.
