• SO1 is much more linear than Wing Commander 2. There is very limited branching. If a series is lost, a losing path mission is played. If this is lost, you lose the game. If you win the mission you begin the next series.
• Though they are labeled as mission E of each series in this guide, the losing missions are actually part of series 5. Therefore, the first series' losing mission is 5 A, the second series' losing mission is 5 B etc.
• Tractoring is done by maneuvering close to your target, switching to a turret, aiming at the target, pressing 'g' to switch to the tractor beam, and then firing the beam. If this does not work, try getting closer. (Note: Only ships equipped with tractor beams can retrieve objects)
