Kris has found a fantastic thread at Starship Modeler where a professional model builder, Alfred Wong, is showing off a Wing Commander project. It's a 1/100 scale model of an F-109 Vampire Space Superority Fighter (from Wing Commander Prophecy and Secret Ops)! This thing is absolutely stunning - I wish I knew who had commissioned it. You can see more of Mr. Wong's designs here. Wouldn't it be great if everyone could have a Wing Commander ship like this someday?
Chris Knudsen popped up to share this status update on Privateer Ascii Sector. Standardized missions and the game's flight engine are well on their way to being complete. When those items are wrapped up, work will continue on bases.
I'm still working on the non-plot missions and I've got most of them finished (except for those that require landing on a base, as I haven't integrated my "land on base" procedures with the main program yet). When I've completed the last few non-plot missions, I'll finish up the flight engine. As far as I can tell, all that's missing is (1) ECM, (2) different ship identification speeds based on which radar you've got installed, and (3) ships spinning and changing directions during collission (right now they just stop). That should complete the flight engine and I'll then move on to the bases.
