COLONEL JACOB "HAWK" MANLEY: Tell us where the jamming's coming from.

COLONEL TAMARA "PANTHER" FARNSWORTH: Who are you working for?

COLONEL JACOB "HAWK" MANLEY: What kind of interference is it?

COLONEL TAMARA "PANTHER" FARNSWORTH: How many ships are there?

COLONEL JACOB "HAWK" MANLEY: C'mon, talk!

COLONEL TAMARA "PANTHER" FARNSWORTH: How many ships are there?

VETERAN: Listen, I don't have to tell you a damn thing!

COLONEL JACOB "HAWK" MANLEY: C'mon! Talk to me!

COLONEL CHRISTOPHER BLAIR: Take it easy, Hawk! C'mon!

VETERAN: So, you're with them now? You did me a good turn once.

COLONEL JACOB "HAWK" MANLEY: Yeah, why the sudden change in attitude?

VETERAN: I owe him one.

COLONEL CHRISTOPHER BLAIR: Hey, let's everybody relax. Nobody's going to hurt you. Here.

VETERAN: Listen, I was just flyin' for these guys 'cause they paid me, anyway. Ain't like the old days... when you had a cause.

COLONEL CHRISTOPHER BLAIR: Are you so sure? There's people dying out there that don't deserve it. Why don't you tell us what you know.

VETERAN: You get me home?

COLONEL CHRISTOPHER BLAIR: You've got my word.

VETERAN: You're looking for a cap ship. They re-outfitted it, so you'd hardly recognize it was ever one of ours. It moves around every sixth hour. I'll plot it for ya on a nav-map. Has to uncloak when it fires its engines. Otherwise, it lays low. It's packed full of gadgets that do the jamming. I don't even know what it's doing here -- it's an evil old thing. There's no damn honor in just pokin' someone in the eye.

COLONEL CHRISTOPHER BLAIR: Listen, you got a place here if you want it.

VETERAN: Naw, my flying days are over. Next time, it won't be an ejection pod, it'll be a coffin. I'd like to postpone that for a while -- if you don't mind.

COLONEL JACOB "HAWK" MANLEY: C'mon we'll get you cleaned up, something to eat. C'mon.

COLONEL TAMARA "PANTHER" FARNSWORTH: It's okay

COLONEL JACOB "HAWK" MANLEY: C'mon.

hangar bay - panther, hawk, confed vet -j2ÿÿ CONDITION: IF Blair helped out the panhandling Confed Vet back in the Nephele star port canteen (Scene 13-A1).

the captured pilot sits between panther and hawk; we recognize him as the confed vet from the nephele star port canteen, washed up and hair cut, but still the same guy.

clearly, he's already undergone some interrogation from Hawk. he appears tired and confused. now he looks up at blair's approach.

vet You're with them now, huh?

Blair doesn't recognize him at first.

vet You did me a good turn once. (to Panther & Hawk) This guy I owe.

Now Blair remembers their previous meeting. As the vet continues speaking, Blair heads over to pliers' toolbox, pours out a cup of coffee from a thermos, and hands it to the vet.

vet I was just flyin' for these guys 'cause they paid me, anyway. Ain't like the old days, when ya had a cause...

blair Lotta people are dying out there who don't deserve it. You wanna tell us what you know?

vet Will ya get me home? That's all I ask.

blair You have my word.

vet You're looking for an old cap ship. They re-outfitted it, ya'd hardly know it was ever one of ours.

The vet sips his coffee, gathering his thoughts.

vet It moves around, every sixth hour, I'll plot it for ya on a nav-map. Has to uncloak when it fires up its engines; otherwise, it lays low. It's full of gadgets that do all the jamming. I don't even know why it's here. Frankly, I hope you take the old crone down: it's an evil old thing anyway. There's no honor in just pokin' people in the eye.

blair claps the vet on the shoulder.

blair We got a place for you here, if you want.

vet Naw. I think my flying days are over. Next time it won't be the ejection pod ... it'll be a coffin. I'd like to postpone that for awhile, if you don't mind...
