Transcript

COLONEL CHRISTOPHER BLAIR: Look, uh, I am sorry.

CAPTAIN WILLIAM EISEN: No. You did what you had to do, Colonel.

COLONEL CHRISTOPHER BLAIR: Yeah, well, I tried to blow the two of you out of the sky, Vagabond too.

MAJOR TODD "MANIAC" MARSHALL: We lost Vagabond.

CAPTAIN WILLIAM EISEN: Well, that's behind us. You're here now.

MAJOR TODD "MANIAC" MARSHALL: Yeah, I'll get over it. Maybe.

CAPTAIN WILLIAM EISEN: I suppose some sort of explanation is in order.

COLONEL CHRISTOPHER BLAIR: No, sir. I have turned my back on Confed.

CAPTAIN WILLIAM EISEN: My hope is... we can stop a full-blown war. You're not the only one that was bothered by the mission assignments and sketchy info that Confed was feeding us.

COLONEL CHRISTOPHER BLAIR: So you started to play detective.

CAPTAIN WILLIAM EISEN: Before defecting and since. I've been collecting mission data, coded transmissions, and tracking fleet movements.

COLONEL CHRISTOPHER BLAIR: But you don't know what it all means?

CAPTAIN WILLIAM EISEN: I'm still missing some very important pieces of the puzzle, but I do know that these clashes between the Border Worlds and Confed are being provoked by certain elements within Confed. Exactly who they are remains unclear.

COLONEL CHRISTOPHER BLAIR: But, why didn't you tell me before you defected?

CAPTAIN WILLIAM EISEN: Well, I'm sorry, Colonel. Perhaps I should have. But the only thing I was certain of was that... my defection had a very good chance of being a suicide run. I couldn't ask you to take that position. You had to decide for yourself.

COLONEL CHRISTOPHER BLAIR: I've made my decision sir. And I have no regrets.

CAPTAIN WILLIAM EISEN: I'm glad. Because if Confed gets the Assembly's approval of warfare on the Border Worlds... It'll be bloodier than the war with the Kilrathi.

control bay - Eisen, Maniac -g1 CONDITION: This REQUIRED scene available ONLY IF Blair comes from Series F.

Blair approaches Eisen and Maniac with a certain amount of apprehension. There's a tense beat as all three look at each other... Blair isn't sure what to say... finally:

Blair I'm sorry. I--

Eisen You did what you had to, Colonel.

Blair But I tried to blow you both away -- (long beat) Vagabond, too...

eisen and maniac share a grim look.

Maniac We lost Vagabond...

Blair nods and just stares at the floor. ÿÿ Eisen You're here now. The rest is behind us.

Blair looks at Maniac, as if to ask if he'll leave it behind too.

Maniac I'll get over it... (walking away) Maybe.

... and he's gone. Blair turns back to Eisen.

Eisen I suppose an explanation is in order...

Blair I have turned my back on Confed.

Eisen My hope is that we can stop a full-blown war. (beat) You weren't the only one bothered by the mission assignments -- or the sketchy info Confed was feeding us.

Blair So you started playing detective...

Eisen (nods) Before defecting -- and since -- I've been collecting mission data and coded transmissions, as well as tracking fleet movements.

Blair knows Eisen too well. he can see that the captain's not entirely confident.

Blair But you don't know what it all means.

Eisen I'm still missing some very important pieces of the puzzle. I do know these clashes between Confed and the Border Worlds are being provoked ... by certain elements within Confed... (beat) But exactly who they are ... remains unclear.

Blair (beat) Why didn't you tell me before you--

Eisen I'm sorry, Colonel. Maybe I should have. But the only thing certain was that my act of defection had a good chance of being a suicide run. (beat) I couldn't ask you to put yourself in that position... (beat) You had to decide for yourself...

Blair puts his hand on Eisen's shoulder.

Blair I've made my choice. And I don't regret it.

Eisen I hope not. If Confed gets the Assembly's approval to wage war on the Border Worlds...

Blair ...it'll be bloodier than the War with the Kilrathi, won't it?

eisen just looks at Blair. he doesn't need to answer.
