CANTEEN MAN: This the way you treat all your friends?
SEETHER: You just remember you're not my friend.
CANTEEN MAN: Oh, that's obvious.
SEETHER: You're lucky I don't kill you right now.
COLONEL CHRISTOPHER BLAIR: Let him go.
SEETHER: I don't see where this is your concern, mister.
COLONEL CHRISTOPHER BLAIR: I'm prepared to make it my concern.
SEETHER: You're gonna wish you never met me.
COLONEL CHRISTOPHER BLAIR: I already do.
SEETHER: Personally, I can't wait until we meet again.
MAJOR TODD "MANIAC" MARSHALL: Of course, I woulda backed you up if he tried anything. Oh? Is he gone? Come on! Come on, pal!
COLONEL CHRISTOPHER BLAIR: So what was the important matter you wanted to discuss?
MAJOR TODD "MANIAC" MARSHALL: Colonel Christopher Blair, Confederation Space Force Reserves, it's my duty to inform you: you are being recalled to active military service.
COLONEL CHRISTOPHER BLAIR: Haven't you heard, Maniac? The War is over.
MAJOR TODD "MANIAC" MARSHALL: They sent me out here to get you.
COLONEL CHRISTOPHER BLAIR: Who sent you?
MAJOR TODD "MANIAC" MARSHALL: Who sent? How should I know? Somebody high up. They don't tell majors everything, you know. And you'd think with all the years I put in of service. What? I'll never understand Confed Command decisions anyway, I mean, why they'd put an aging earthworm back in the cockpit. Why I'm not a Colonel. You know, just because a guy gets lucky on one mission, happens to vanquish an enemy we've been fighting for eons...
COLONEL CHRISTOPHER BLAIR: When do we leave?
MAJOR TODD "MANIAC" MARSHALL: Leave? Oh, I arranged for a couple of fighters. They're waiting in the port.
COLONEL CHRISTOPHER BLAIR: Let's go.
MAJOR TODD "MANIAC" MARSHALL: Let's go.
-
MAJOR TODD "MANIAC" MARSHALL: Think you can remember how to get this baby off the ground? Oooh, nice liftoff ... for a dinosaur. Been a few eons since you held a flightstick, eh, Colonel? Or did you find some sand princess to hold it for you back there? You don't have to answer that.
COLONEL CHRISTOPHER BLAIR: Maniac?
MAJOR TODD "MANIAC" MARSHALL: Yeah, I know... But you can't say you haven't missed my sparkling repartee just a little.

To get involved:
Blair heads for the spot where Seether clutches the man's throat.
Blair Let 'im go.
Seether does nothing of the kind. he turns to look at who would dare interrupt him. when his icy eyes lock onto Blair's, there's a glimmer of an evil grin.
Seether I can't see where this is your concern, mister.
Blair I'm prepared to make it my concern.
there's a tense moment of silence.
then Seether suddenly moves with incredible speed -- letting go of the man he's been threatening, spinning around, and whipping out a mean looking instrument known as a laser-blade (a curved handle with a lethal thread of light that pulses from one end of the handle to the other) which he brandishes at Blair.
what he doesn't expect is that Blair doesn't flinch -- not even an eyelash twitches. he just meets the icy stare with one of his own.
Blair You'll get one swipe with that thing... (beat) That's all.
it's a standoff.
finally, Seether switches off the laser-blade.
Seether You're going to wish you never met me.
Blair I already do.
Seether smiles a frighteningly evil grin as he backs away, a grin that looks like a death's head skull.
Seether Personally, I'm looking forward to the next time we meet.
he shoves people out of the way and disappears.
Blair returns to maniac who actually seems a little impressed.
Maniac 'course I woulda backed you up if he tried anything...
it's already history to Blair.
Blair So what's the 'important' matter you wanted to discuss?
Maniac smiles. he's going to savor the pleasure of this:
Maniac 'Colonel Christopher Blair of the Confederation Space Force Reserves, it is my duty to inform you that you are being recalled to active military service.'
blair is stunned.
Blair Haven't you heard, Maniac? The War's over.
Maniac (shrugs) They sent me out here to get you.
Blair Who sent you?
Maniac (goes off) How should I know? Somebody high up. They don't tell majors everything. You'd think after all the years of service I've put in, they'd -- I'll never understand Confed Command decisions... Why they want to put an aging earthworm back in the cockpit is beyond me. Why am I still a major? Just 'cause a guy gets lucky on one mission and happens to vanquish an enemy we'd been fighting for eons--
during Maniac's ranting, the shock in Blair's eyes is slowly replaced by "the glint," the gameface, the look of a man who's deprived himself of a certain pleasure for far too long. finally, he cuts Maniac off:
Blair When do we leave?
Maniac (beat) Uhh, I've arranged for a pair of fighters. They're waiting in the port--
Blair Let's go.
He heads for the exit. Maniac follows.
midgame: nephele iii star port -a1 A pair of Confed fighters blast out of the star port and head off into space...
