Space Sim First Look: Vendetta Online Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Update ID

Barret over at Crius has tipped us off about another massively multiplayer space sim called Vendetta Online. It is currently being designed for Windows, MacOS and Linux. Space combat is conducted in real time with emphasis based on player skill. There is an interesting choice of flight mode in Vendetta Online. Players can choose between the standard Wing Commander atmospheric mode or a Jumpgate style Newtonian space model. People can toggle back and forth and use whichever mode suits them best in certain situations. The game runs one large universe, rather than isolated servers, with a developing storyline in the far future. There are several distinct factions and a variety of neat locations. The game will be probably be in the $10-12 monthly range when it launches this summer.

Users may build their characters in any direction they desire, becoming rich captains of industry, military heros, or outlaws. A fast-paced, realtime "twitch" style combat model gives intense action, coupled with the backdrop of RPG gameplay in a massive online galaxy. Three major player factions form a delicate balance of power, with several NPC sub-factions creating situations of economic struggle, political intrigue and conflict. The completely persistent universe and detailed storyline add to the depth of immersion, resulting in a unique online experience.
