Plasteel Armor or plasteel armor or plasteel is a type of armor that may be installed on spacecraft to increase their overall defensive capacity. Plasteel armor is the cheapest armor available and offers the equivalent protection of ten centimeters of durasteel (roughly four laser hits). It is available for sale to privateers at ship dealers. Gabriel Quentin wrote about plasteel armor in GEMINI SECTOR: AN OVERVIEW.

Armor

There are two types of armor available. Both are repairable if damaged and offer significant protection. Most ship’s hulls are built to keep you pressurized and immune from radiation, but they do not do much to stop a mass driver. If you can afford an escort, you may not need armor, but other protection is much less reliable.

Plasteel

Protective equivalent: 10 cm durasteel. Plasteel is the least expensive armor and protects one from the equivalent of four direct laser hits.

Privateer Playtesters' Guide

ARMOR

Plasteel is the most basic form of protection, cheaper than tungsten armor. With only 10 cm durasteel equivalent protection, it cannot withstand prolonged enemy attack. As soon as you can afford the switch, you should upgrade from plasteel to tungsten armor.

Behind the Screens

The pricing for calculating the cost of armor repairs is somewhat bugged; the calculations roll over and as a result sometimes a great amount of damage (or damage to multiple sides at once) will cost less than a small amount of damage. The range for armor repair costs is so small that it isn't really noticeable during regular gameplay.
