A Tractor Beam or tractor beam is a device for collecting salvage that can be installed in a weapons mount on spacecraft or turret. They lock onto objects and pull them into a spacecraft. Pirates make use of tractor beams for collecting cargo from destroyed spacecraft. They are available for sale to privateers at ship dealers. Users
A Tractor Beam may be installed on the weapons slots on the stock Tarsus, Orion, Galaxy and Centurion or on any Top Turret, Bottom Turret or Tail Turret.

A tractor beam is the key to efficient salvage. Cargo is usually found after a battle, waiting for collection. Items collected are automatically added to your manifest. The energy drain is 4 GJ / second.

Tractor Beam
This system locks onto retrievable objects and pulls them into your ship. A tractor beam is especially useful if you are making a living as a pirate. After blowing up merchants and other ships carrying valuable cargo, you can retrieve the goods and sell them for a handsome profit.

Behind the Screens
Wing Commander Privateer contains graphics overlays for missile launchers, torpedo launchers and tractor beams on two additional outer weapons slots on the Centurion. These slots were removed from the final build of the game.
