Dekker's Blaster Gets Around

A number of props and costumes from the Wing Commander film shoots were discarded after production wrapped, but a few neat items survived this unfortunate loss and remain in circulation today. The item below was a weapon used by the Border Worlds marines in the latter half of Wing Commander 4. A few variants exist, including a version used at Telamon with a slightly blockier rear end. The lights on the side flicker in a random pattern when the trigger is held, and the entire thing is pretty big. Even with the WC4 novel in the frame, I'm not sure the scale quite comes across. The handles and sights seem to be made out of metal, and the main barrel is some sort of lighter weight pipe. Once something like this is made, it's not uncommon for it to see some use by other studios. The gun was rented out to the crews of Star Trek: Deep Space 9 and Men in Black 2 before hitting the collectors' market. Think the gun might look neat in our Wing Commander Parade?
