Wing Commander fans in Southern California have a cool opportunity to visit the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory this weekend. Their annual open house will be held on May 15 & 16 from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Wingnuts might want to target Sunday in order to see Flight Commander creator (and NASA expert) Eddie Benowitz show off some amazingly cool stuff.
I'll be demoing at JPL's open house on Sunday May 16. In the morning, I'll be doing RoboDome (huge robots that float on air like air hockey) and in the afternoon I'll be talking about MSL, our next Mars rover. Open to the public, come on down if you're in the Los Angeles area. Let me know if you plan on dropping by.How awesome is that? That's actually Eddie in the middle left of this picture. Find more details and directions to the Pasadena event here. Caution: no pets or segways are allowed on the premises.
This popular event celebrates JPL's accomplishments with exhibits and demonstrations about the Laboratory's ongoing research and space exploration. Many of the Lab's scientists and engineers are on hand to answer questions about how spacecraft are sent to other planets, how scientists utilize space technologies to explore Earth and how researchers are searching for planets beyond the solar system.
