Tomb Raider is Now Legend, Nothing Else Changes Share on Bluesky Share on Facebook Share on Twitter

Eidos' attempt to relaunch the famous Tomb Raider series premiered yesterday with the release of Tomb Raider: Legend. This is an important game for Wing Commander fans to watch: it represents another major attempt at revitalizing a formerly huge mid-1990s franchise. Like Wing Commander, Tomb Raider was an incredibly successful game series that spawned a great amout of crossover - the series lead to mass media spinoffs that included novels, comics and a pair of motion pictures. If Legend is a financial success it can only help convince Electronic Arts that there's an audience interested in seeing successful 1990s series' -- like Wing Commander! -- continued! Reviews so far are very positive and the game has already become the number one seller in the UK. There's also another vague connection to Wing Commander. Howard Day, who is in charge of the fan game Wing Commander: Pioneer, worked on the yet-to-be-released PlayStation Portable version of Legend. Tomb Raider is available for the PC, PS2, X-Box and X-Box 360.
