Fill'er Up, Date
Bob McDob sends us this link to a site where someone has graphically documented the evolution of the space combat game, all the way from Space Invaders to... Starfox64. Yeah. Wing Commander earns the second to last slot, though, so... that's pretty good. And hey, Starfox's dad is a giant space whale, so he's got that going for him. Not included: Freespace 2 slash and burns the genre to a standstill.
