PlayStation 4 Announced - Key Takeaways Share on Bluesky Share on Facebook Share on Twitter

Last week, Sony sort of unveiled the upcoming PlayStation 4. Unlike the PS2 and PS3, the new console will not play your older disc-based or digitally downloaded games. However, it does sound like you'll be able to stream classic titles on the new console, similar to OnLive or Gaikai services. Streaming involves 'hosting' the game in a datacenter reasonably close to you and transmitting compressed video frames to your machine. The streaming service will be rolled out gradually as part of Playstation's new online services and may not be available at launch. In the meantime, there are several ways to play Wing Commander on your PlayStation:

  • Wing Commander 3 (PS1/PS2) and Wing Commander 4 (PS1/PS2/PS3) came out on disc for PlayStation 1
  • Wing Commander 4 is available through the PSN Store on PS3
  • EA Replay (WC1 and Secret Missions) for PSP is available from the PSN Store in Europe
