Hmm, are the Hussars only in the Add-on? Because I don't know what the equivalent would be in the basic AOE2.
I don't know, I can't remember
. They are a development of the light cavalry, try it.
It is more of a real siege than in Starcraft, where some dozens of cloaked things appear and destroy my slimey hive, or where cloaked agents rain nuclear fire down upon me.
Well, StarCraft does have a bit more mobile combat, whereas AOE2 was more static... though both methods can be very interesting (just compare History Line with Battle Isle 2... that is, if you've ever heard of these rather obscure titles
).
Anyway, C&C Red Alert was the game which made the most fun for me in this genre.
Heh. I personally haven't played a Westwood RTS since Dune 2. At least not for more than a few hours. I
hate what they did with the control system and user interface after Dune 2.

Hmm, well, StarCraft somehow managed to conceal its simplicity
. I mean, of course there was a lot of levels like that, but there was quite a bit of variety, too. Things like those "dungeon crawl" levels, where nobody built anything, for example. And even 'normal' levels usually had some sort of special conditions that made them unique. Like that no-flying-units Zerg level in Brood Wars... I still shudder at the memory of facing Protoss Carriers with a pack of Hydralisks ;-).
