Check This Out

They're looked down upon as portfolio items for computer animation. A true test of your ability as a modeler/animator is to do characters, not inanimate objects (they're too easy to animate).

I hope to remedy that partly by having animated pilots in my movie.

This is what the lighting is going to look like (or something like this anyway) in my final animation (not the one for class).

It's more moody the angles I'm going to use for the lighting, darker and higher contrast. The background is also changed from the bright red/purple kind of colours to blue/green colours. Although red is more the colour of the Kilrathi, I think blue presents space as colder and more harsh.

It's not a Pelican, it's a C-8 Albatross. :D It's ahh... um it's my variant of a Pelican--it has no defenses, bigger engines, 3 docking bays for increased internal cargo capacity (notice the 2 on the port side), and a streamlined bridge configuration!

And when I go take some photos of railway cars for reference, it'll have a better variety of cargo too! :)

Why no defenses? Didn't want to keep track of where the Pelican/Albatross was in relation to your dogfights (for a constant stream of laser fire)? :)

Wedge: The idea is that he's got his partner on his wing behind him. When he explodes one of his fins will spin towards his wingman and there'll be warning klaxons and the computer will be spouting "WARNING! WARNING! PROXIMITY ALERT" in the wingman's cockpit.

If I can pull it all off and it actually look good, I'll be impressed lol.

Hey why are you telling us the story ? Now there will be no suspence (<--- spelling please)....:p

Viper: How did you guess? :D

Tigers Claw: Why don't you download my script?

My take is that it should be like reality, where cargo ships don't have their own weapons. In a future where space is policed by the military, why do you need armed freighters? A waste of resources when piracy is uncommon. In unsafe territory there's always escorts.

Why?...

"BEHOLD, THE AWESOME POWER OF CHEESE!"...

that's why.

(sorry; couldn't resist, heheheheh)

I got 3dsMax 5 and I cant even make a simple 3d model !Damn its difficult ! Great work CamW,you should show me how to create high quality 3D models one day :p :p

3dsmax is a very powerful piece of software. It's used in games, movies, television, etc. I've been using it for over 3 years and still I don't know it all. But if you want some help you can always contact me on ICQ and I can critique your work.

Actually currently with Terrorism in this current day and age, there *is* a need to arm transports.

In fact, they are fitting aircraft with laser systems which are designed to fool shoulder launched SAM's.

And basically the turrets fitted to freighters are little more than point-defense guns. They can't harm anything significant like a capship, just a pesky fighter or a torpedo.

Because of all those terrorist attacking freight transport at this point, of course...

Here's a clip from what I'm handing in to class. :)

0.91 MB DivX 5.03 AVI

Note: Since this is for school, I have been rushed and I haven't been able to put as much time in it as possible due to my workload. My final version will have different lighting, different background, motions and content will be tweaked, and my editing will be better.
