SciPubTech Cut-Away Poster Rescheduled for this Spring Share on Bluesky Share on Facebook Share on Twitter

We don't know exactly what's been going on with the poster lately, but SciPubTech has contacted us and told us the poster is still in the works. I can't wait, it should be really cool. The prototype pictures we have are from the August 1999 edition of "Previews" magazine.

We are finalizing the poster at this time and hope to have it ready for the spring.

Soldiers get the Needle Share on Bluesky Share on Facebook Share on Twitter

Ben O'Leigh tells it like how it is. Military reserves on the planet of Crius have revolted, giving rise to a week-long armed rebellion. Trouble started when it was reported that Fat Larry's Laser Tattoo Parlour, situated just outside the barracks, was being forced to close following scenes of drunken debauchery and errant bodily mutilation. This incensed the soliders to the extent that they besiged the local council offices, demanding that Fat Larry should be re-enfranchised. Counsil workers replied with gunfire, giving rise to a three day shooting frenzy. No conclusion seems imminent and an increased Black Market demand for Firearms has been reported.

Origin Infiltrated on TV Share on Bluesky Share on Facebook Share on Twitter

The Canadian CBC show Undercurrents did a feature on Origin and Ultima Online this weekend. They focused on the alternate lives people lead in the game and introduced a couple that got married in real life after meeting in the game. The report brought to light how many people spend 20 to 30 hours playing the game each week, which makes it a serious investment of time and possibly money. No wonder UO characters can go for thousands of dollars on eBay. There's a little write-up on the piece here.

War and Peace Share on Bluesky Share on Facebook Share on Twitter

Nilrom Bach writes. Armed conflict has broken out on the planet of Hephaestus between rival pacifist groups. Trouble started when Reverend Jane Parsley's League Against Battles Involving Aggression staged a 'March for Peace' past the headquarters of Harriet Mydinna's Sisters Against Death. SAD members came out and jeered at their rivals, casting insults such as 'Your legs aren't very hairy' and 'Call yourself a vega? I saw you eating cheese made with rennet'. Slaps and pinches were exchanged, and it wasn't long before someone pulled a gun. Both groups are now locked in fierce battle, and have used up most of the Firearms supplies on planet.

We've got a few miscellaneous updates today. Over at Beth's Days of our Lives Page there is a "Were are they now?" section and Holly Gagnier is featured there. Gagnier played Sosa in Wing Commander 4. They have a bit of information on what she's done since her time in "Days" and her role in WC4 is mentioned prominently, although they misspelled Velina. You can find the page here and a more complete history is at the IMDB here.

CIC Listed at the SciFi Jump Gate Share on Bluesky Share on Facebook Share on Twitter

The SciFi Jump Gate has recently included us in their database of top science fiction websites in a multitude of categories. They feature us in the "Games & Gaming" main section as opposed to the "Movies -> Science Fiction -> Wing Commander" subsection where the official movie website, Dan's and Dark Horizons are listed. It appears to be a rather new link as they point to our new IP instead of our domain name. Maybe someday we'll be the "Cool 'Jump' of the Day."

CIS Assault Squads then stormed the refuelling base and captured 103 wanted criminals; they are occupying the base pending the arrival of demolition experts. A continous patrol is to be maintained in the area to prevent the base being re-established.

German Swiss Movie Release Delayed a Bit Share on Bluesky Share on Facebook Share on Twitter

It seems that the German Swiss movie release we expected yesterday will actually happen on March 9. That's not too much of a wait. According to kulturinfo.ch and kino.bsonline.ch the theaters in Basel and Zürich (the largest city in Switzerland) will begin showing the movie on Thursday, March 9. The date probably applies to all German speaking portions of the country. Thanks to Cedric Wasser.

WC3 PSX2 Incompatibility an Old Bug Share on Bluesky Share on Facebook Share on Twitter

Yikes, those Windows 2000 results below are awful. Anyhow, we have a bit of an explanation of the Wing Commander 3 PlayStation issue we've been following for the past few days. According to Justin Bielawa, EA Origin programmer Steve Coallier, who worked on the original conversion to the PSX, said that the audio/video scramble was a random bug that popped up during regular PlayStation use. So we may have to wait until more PlayStation 2's hit the market before we fully know how Wing Commander 3 will work on the new console.

Wing Commander Windows 2000 Compatibility List Share on Bluesky Share on Facebook Share on Twitter

Although all of the games tested below were tested on the final release build of Windows 2000, there is no guarantee that games listed as working will work on your machine, and those listed as not working may well run under a different configuration. The DOS mode games are not included in the list since Win2K DOS mode seems to have broken SVGA mode, and no sound or joystick support. Basically, all DOS games except Privateer and Armada should work the same as in Windows 9X, except without sound or joystick, and they'll only run in VGA mode. Privateer and Armada only work in full DOS mode which isn't available in Win2K.

Kilrathi Saga - Installer and XanMovie working
Kilrathi Saga WC1 - Plays intro, but crashes at first menu screen.
Kilrathi Saga WC2 - No known problems.
WC3W, WC4W, and WC4 DVD - Display "VirtualProtect() failed." error at startup.
WCP and SO - Crash at startup in all video modes.
Privateer 2 - Movies run fine, gameplay fine but sound stutters. Speed limiter works too, which it doesn't for me in Win98.

Let us know if you discover anything more about Win2K's compatibility with WC.

Convicts Sign TeleVid Deal Share on Bluesky Share on Facebook Share on Twitter

A report by Henri Souza. There is celebration amongst the convicts of Hades tonight, following Deltagam Corporation striking a historic deal with the prison authorities. Deltagam have won exclusive rights to broadcast the new sport of Batting, which has found favour amongsy inmates with life-sentences. Based on the archaic sport of Boxing, Batting utilises the same rules, except each contender is given a Plasteen bat with which to assault his opponent. Twenty inmates have already died playing the sport, but this has not deterred enthusiasts; indeed, following this afternoon's revelations, the number of applications has trebled, each looking for their 15 minutes of fame.

Episodic Role Playing Game Starting Soon Share on Bluesky Share on Facebook Share on Twitter

If you haven't heard about it yet, there's a new RPG coming out soon that's passing itself off as the first "episodic" game released over the internet. As you and I know, Secret Ops did this back in 1998. Nevertheless, they are taking it a bit further. They give the starter package out for free and charge for episodes right off the bat. Wildfire dug up one of the articles on the game for us here. Again, many of the innovative things they talk about were done back in 1998.

Wing Commander Total Conversion for Homeworld Begun Share on Bluesky Share on Facebook Share on Twitter

Another fan project here.. this one's for Homeworld. I'll let them describe it.
The format info for homeworlds models is released, and 3ds, lightwave, asc info is all readily available. A converter would be a simple thing to be made by someone who knows what to do with it, 2 nights work probably. That person which knows what to do is what we're missing. Any helpers?

Also, any donated Wing Commander related 3d models would give us a jump start. So far I've made a Dralthi, but it's not much. Originally It was for the airquake2 mod for quake2. But I won't waste it if I have it. We could shave off weeks to get to the same point if some people felt like helping us out. Any help will be credited and VERY appreciated.

Basically, we're out to bring Wing Commander into the strategy game universe, and we want to make it as good as possible. So we're not overlooking any chances to make things sooner and better. We've got a lot of work to do, and we'd like to get a working version out as soon as we can.

Contact me at banach@Erols.com or ICQ 6918556 or ICQ 4189579 (preferred) for info, pics, some progress, anything you want that we have.

Light Makes Many Hands Work Share on Bluesky Share on Facebook Share on Twitter

Industry editor Gill Bates reports. A spokesman for weapons manufacturer KriskArms told yesterday of a mishap at the company's plant on Hermes. Trouble started while technicians were testing KriskArms' new Novaflow II laser, a state-of-the-art shipboard weapon. Unfortunately, the laser proved too powerful for the test-area, and a large portion of the factory was vaporised. The biggest loss was the company's entire stock of Cesium, an incredibly electro-positive substance essential for the manufacture of light-energy weapons. The whole workforce is working double-shifts to repair the damage.

Wing Commander 1 Conversion for Starsiege Beginning Share on Bluesky Share on Facebook Share on Twitter

Howard Liu is beginning to create Wing Commander 1 missions and themes for the game Starsiege. It's still in the very early stages, but he sent the following in.
No experience is required. The main focus will initially be on getting the general mission structure in place, so scripters and mapmakers will be the first priority. Anyone owning a full copy of Starsiege can be taught the basics of map editing and scripting work. Additional help is needed for skinning and voice acting (possibly). Also, someone able to provide exact detail on the Vega Campaign missions would be invaluable in the preliminary stages. Finally, anyone who just wants to watch, kibitz or cheer is welcome to join in as well.

A bare bones web page for the project has been erected at http://hammer.prohosting.com/~h2liu, and anyone interested should contact Orogogus at h2liu@iname.com.

Attack of the Bexian MegaLocust! Share on Bluesky Share on Facebook Share on Twitter

An over-excited account by Jefrey Littlechair. I'm standing on the plains of Crius, witnessing Armageddon as a huge swarm of ferocious Bexian MegaLocusts continue their insatiable quest to eat anything that stands in their path! These feral 8' creatures are completely unstoppable, and have utterly destroyed all stocks fo Grain and Fertilite, as well as consuming small house pets and the occasional young child! Are we all to be doomed? Is this the end of civilisation as we know it? Hang on, I've got a message coming in... apparently the curse has been alleviated by the Militia 3rd Reserve Battalion, thanks to the assistance of some extra-strength fly paper. This is Jefrey Littlehair, saying goodnight from Crius.

Wing Commander 3 may be Incompatible with the PlayStation 2 Share on Bluesky Share on Facebook Share on Twitter

Tomoyo Goto was kind enough to translate a recent bit of news from the Japanese "PlayStation Official Homepage." Scei.co.jp tested some 2600 PlayStation games for compatibility issues with the upcoming PlayStation 2. About fifteen were found to have various sorts of errors on the PS2. Unfortunately Wing Commander 3 appears to be one of these games. But that's what PS1's are for anyhow, and there are also a multitude of emulators, such as Bleem (according to the Bleem compatibility page, WC3/4 have "Not Yet" status). You can find the scei.co.jp info for yourself here, but it's in Japanese.

An on-the-spot report by Steve Unis. Militant activists, possbily linked to the League Exacting Mutant Recognition [L.E.M.U.R.], have inflicted wide-scale misery on the inhabitants of Karatikus. Construction Strike Generates Materials Surplus Share on Bluesky Share on Facebook Share on Twitter

Industry reporter Tony Knox writes. Hermes authorities have still to strike a deal with state-employed construction workers, who have taken industrial action over low wages. As a result, this year's projects target seems unlikely to be met, and a huge stockpile of industrial materials remain unused. Rumours suggest that these will be sold of at low prices, perhaps in order to finance a deal with the building community.

One of 3DGN's bitchslaps (...) includes a Wing Commander mention. The article talks about the names of the characters in popular games, and calls Christopher Blair, although rather generic compared to names like Duke Nuke'm and Link, a sound choice that adds to the realism. You can find the article here.

Sinners Dinners Share on Bluesky Share on Facebook Share on Twitter

Restaurant critic B.B. Finn writes. Two days ago, I decided to take the blonde to the Sinners Inn, Hermes' most notorious eatery. Whilst it's not exactly the most salubrious surroundings in which I've taken sustenance, the staff are nevertheless sociable to a fault, though it is a pity the chef doesn't share this sentiment. I started with Joe's Fried Pie, a foodstuff that, if it didn't already exist, nobody would bother inventing. The blonde had Space Bug Gumbo, although this is perhaps inaccurate, as after one taste of this steaming dish she fled to the toilets. I complained, but the sole outcome was myself being pummeled soundly around the head and neck area, and waking up in the gutter. Ho hey.

Smart Bomb, Dumb Pilot Share on Bluesky Share on Facebook Share on Twitter

Military authority Will Enford comments. Hades inhabitants were up in arms yesterday, following a blunder by the local Militia Air Reserve. The incident occurred while Thripp Ground Attack Craft practised using the Descartes Self-Guided Munition. The target was a series of disused warehouses; unfortunately, a novice pilot flying one of the craft mistook the planet's main Fertilite refinery as his target.. and let fly with both of the bombs his craft was carrying. The high-tech weaponry did its job, and Fertilite imports are now urgently required.

Unknown Enemy Pre-Demo Released Share on Bluesky Share on Facebook Share on Twitter

Over at the Chat Zone there's been much debate about the subdued Unknown Enemy project. There is talk of releasing all the work done to the public for them to look through, but in the mean time one of the first test demos has been made available to try. You can find it here. Peace Minister Faces Jail Share on Bluesky Share on Facebook Share on Twitter

Political analyst Jerwyn Gooson reports. Anhur senate member Allan Poltroon, who ran for election on a hugely-successful 'let's just be nice to one another' campaign, was arrested this morning by CIS agents in connection with an arms-smugglying ring. Poltroon seems heavily implicated in a cartel which supplied several pirate bands with modern weaponry in return for a percentage of the marauders' loot. The CIS became suspicious when they noticed Poltroon was named as a director of weapons giant KriskArms, despite his overtly pacifistic stance. If convicted Poltroon could face up to 30 years imprisonment.

Putting the News in Newsgroup - P2 Exchange Share on Bluesky Share on Facebook Share on Twitter

Over at agwc Andreas Rudich posted an update on the status of that old P2 DOS --> P2 Windows 95 exchange offer. I'm surprised to hear this.
Here are the results:
First, the good news (at least for the North American people): This offer still seems to stand. Keisa Swann from Electronic Arts Customer Warranty told me that I can send the old software with a check/money order for $10 to the address below:

Keisa Swann
Electronic Arts Customer Warranty
PO Box 9025
Redwood City CA 94063-9025
Phone: 650-628-1900
Fax: 650-628-5900
Email: warranty@ea.com

Now, the bad news (for the European people):
They only ship in North America (I assume this includes Canada). The german customer support (de-cs@ea.com) told me that the Deluxe Edition was only available in the US and isn't available anymore (not even in the US).

Beware that it's not rare for different EA officials to make contradictory statements in regards to Wing Commander products and/or they may have a very limited supply, so you'd probably might want to get in touch with them yourself before you send any money or games.

Incursion Site Updated With New Progress Share on Bluesky Share on Facebook Share on Twitter

A few people have been wondering recently about the status of the fan made Wing Commander movie, Incursion. Korax/B.Radius are now getting back into the project after a busy holiday season.
Howdy all, just letting you know the new Wing Commander Incursion Movie site has been renewed. After a really busy end of '99 and Christmas new year period we're back to finish the job.

For starters all 3D models are completed and all that's left is animation. We have done a fair bit of the animations with quite a few to go, but new pictures of the TCS Broadfire Assault class carrier are on display at the site and I hope you all like them we spent quite a while working it.

The site is up with perhaps a few minor bugs, but our first testing of the site was good. It all seemed to work. Any probs, just e-mail us. We usually check the mail every one to two days.

Hope you enjoy and does anyone know when Wing Commander will be released for video or dvd sale in Australia? The rentals are here, but no sale.

I assume by "new site" they mean there's an update at their old site which you can find here. And in regards to his question, the movie is just for rental in quite a few places. You can find cheap places to buy the DVD in our Where to Buy section however.

Southwestern German Showings Clarification Share on Bluesky Share on Facebook Share on Twitter

Bugscratch sent in some extra information about how the movie is showing in Southwest Germany in and around Karlsruhe. It turns out the previously reported theater to remove Wing Commander wasn't the first. It was just the only one in the immediate area to continue to show the movie after the three week mark and therefore stood out. On a similar note, after seeing the DVD Bugscratch believes the Luxor theater Karlsruhe was improperly showing the film. He estimates five to ten percent of the image at the top and bottom was cut and this provided an awful aspect ratio/panoramic view.

Q&A With Erin Roberts Share on Bluesky Share on Facebook Share on Twitter

In anticipation of the upcoming Starlancer, Gamespot has recently conducted an interview with Erin Roberts. It's the usual bits. There's a nice story setup provided and a few pictures. There's quite a few Privateer 2 references. You can find the article here and there's a new 13 meg trailer going around. I'd recommend ATFW for a list of download mirrors. Ainamacar let us know that it sounds like the Wing Commander soundtrack is providing the background music.

Gamespin Follows Origin This Week Share on Bluesky Share on Facebook Share on Twitter

GameCenter is the latest to do a feature on what's up with Origin. To thoroughly confound the issue, Origin isn't in the mood to talk about unannounced products, so this week's Gamespin comes off like many previous articles. It has a brief mention of "Wing Commander Online," but mainly focuses on the products that have been announced. ATFW's "rant" comment is probably more appropriate. You can find the article here.

CGO Posts Best & Worst Sci-Fi Combat Sims Share on Bluesky Share on Facebook Share on Twitter

Over at Computer Games Online (man, they have a real clunky website), there's a new top sci-fi article. Naturally Wing Commander gets a big fat mention just under Elite. Privateer gets its own bit too. Unfortunately P2 didn't fare as well, but overall it's a decent article. You can find the article here. Of note: They make references to the long-canceled Privateer 3 that was featured on their cover two years ago and mention that the general consensus is that Privateer Online is the way of the future. Thanks to ATFW and Delance.
A third version, which was featured as a cover story in this magazine two years ago, remains in development limbo; however, the standard rumor is that it will reappear as massively multiplayer game a la Ultima Online.

Gravel Rash Denied Official Status Share on Bluesky Share on Facebook Share on Twitter

Report by Gert Tegray. Gravel Rash enthusiasts were disappointed after their application to have the sport given official accreditation for next years System Games was rejected. The sport, which involveds the competitor surfing down slopes made of gravel and other abrasive substances on bare buttocks, was considered 'unsuitable' for mass audiences. Reigning champion Arfa 'Soprano' Bellgon said 'I'm very upset by the decision. I've dedicated a lot of time, both in hospital and on the slopes, to perfecting my skills, and to have my abilities dismissed so lightly is a slap in the face'. Gravel Rash supervisors are considering an appeal, based on Levels of Permitted Nakedness laws.

First Chance to Vote for Privateer Online Share on Bluesky Share on Facebook Share on Twitter

Yeah, it's still unannounced and we unsure as to exactly what type of game it'll be, but A Talent For War's latest poll asks "Which upcoming multiplayer-only space-sim are you looking most forward to?" I didn't know there were so many in the works. Privateer Online is among the choices, and even if the final product doesn't exactly fit the question criteria in the end, this will definitely be a fun poll. You can vote here.

Happy Chinese New Year! Share on Bluesky Share on Facebook Share on Twitter

Hopefully that's a correct salutation for this holiday.. or at least not an offensive one. This is the first weekend of the lunar new year. It is also the beginning of the Year of the Dragon.. probably the luckiest year on the lunar zodiac. It's a great year to have children.. or launch new products. Thanks to Celina.

Highly Anticipated Games of the Decade Poll Concludes Share on Bluesky Share on Facebook Share on Twitter

While everyone was trying to do their fancy "Games of the Millennium" Polls, A Talent For War conducted a "Games of the Decade" Poll. If you think about it, that's far more appropriate in a way. The results are now in, and Wing Commander took a number of slots, including number one. Wing Commander games got about half of the votes overall. You can find the full results here in the middle of February 4 news.
The WC series truly dominated the voting, showing they have either the strongest community or that the 90s truly did belong to the Wing Commander series..--Beth

Wing Commander on HBO Next Friday Share on Bluesky Share on Facebook Share on Twitter

AtomM56 kindly let us know that next Friday, February 11, the premium cable television channel HBO should be showing Wing Commander. They have a neato advertisement showing currently to let people know about it. I don't see it on the HBO scheduler, so if anyone else has more info be sure to let us know.

Settling in on the New Machine Share on Bluesky Share on Facebook Share on Twitter

We've pumped more than a gig of data through the new server since we began switching over early this week (no small feat considering blacklance.org and wcspacecommand.com carry the bulk of our files:) and things appear to be nice and sharp on the new system. If people notice any oddities that may be related to us being on a new server, now's the time that we can slowly begin picking at smaller problems. We are already aware of a difficultly downloading music.

Third Time's A Charm Share on Bluesky Share on Facebook Share on Twitter

This isn't priority news of any sort, but Wildfire- noticed that for a third day in a row a routine news update at AVault makes passing references to Wing Commander. What will we find today? You can find their heads-up on Echelon here.

Pack of Black Yaks attack Zak! Share on Bluesky Share on Facebook Share on Twitter

Belinda Keel is there to offer comfort. Zak Skintight, lead singer of rock funsters The Buttock Men, was in hospital on Janus IV last night, suffering from blood poisoning. It seems that Zak, giddy on Sunflowers, managed to fall into the pen of the ferocious Hadeian Devil Yak at the Janus IV Zoo. Five metres high at the shoulder, black as midnight and covered in highly poisonous bristles, eight of these fearsome beasts savaged Zak for a good twenty minutes before the star made his escape. Hundreds of fans assaulted the Yaks in revenge, only to suffer the same fate as their idol. Blood is urgently required, although Zak appears stable (for once, eh?). How do you feel, Zak? 'It wasn't much of a larf, mate'.

Prophecy Gold in the CGW Top Forty Share on Bluesky Share on Facebook Share on Twitter

Remember that Top 40 CGW Poll that ran throughout January? Shades noticed that the March issue of Computer Gaming World lists Prophecy Gold as 39th and Freespace 2 as 23rd. Freespace 2 is also ranked as top simulation while Prophecy Gold got 3rd place. While this shows FS2 was clearly the winner in this race, don't forget it was just a couple months old (and therefore made many Christmas presents) in this January poll and Prophecy Gold came out in Fall of 1998.

Persistent Environments Poll at Gamespot Share on Bluesky Share on Facebook Share on Twitter

The world still hasn't decided what exactly to call massively multiplayer games yet. Gamespot is currently running a poll to find out which genre of computer games people think would best fit a massively multiplayer game (many thousands of players in a universe that runs 24 hours a day). They cover all the main bases and even differentiate between "flight simulation" and "sci-fi combat simulation." Role-Playing Games (like Ultima Online) currently have a substantial lead.

Starlancer Tests May Come Soon Share on Bluesky Share on Facebook Share on Twitter

We may actually be seeing some Starlancerness one of these days. A number of places are reporting increasing activity at a number of key Starlancer locations online, www.zone.com/starlancer (which is being billed as "the Starlancer website" even) among them. For the second day in a row, AVault's particular newsbrief on the subject mentions Wing Commander. You can find it here.

Grape Guru Blamed for Starving Masses Share on Bluesky Share on Facebook Share on Twitter

Kelly Lemon tells it like it is. Religious leader Aaron Strange was in hiding from angry supporters on Bex last night. Aaron converted millions to his Order of the Holy Vine, which advocated the transcension of worldly matters through the consumption of grapes and the destruction of all other, 'spiritually impure' foods. His followers lost faith in Aaron following the publication of photos showing him eating a steak. New stocks of all foodstuffs are urgently required, though grape prices have dropped. 'How could we have been so stupid?', wailed a glassy-eyed toga wearer yesterday.

New mirc Version Released Share on Bluesky Share on Facebook Share on Twitter

Yesterday those wacky people at www.mirc.co.uk released version 5.7 of the popular irc client mirc. I'm sure it'll be a huge improvement over 5.61, and if you don't get it, you won't be cool. I think the very first mirc version I tried many years ago was 4.7 way back in 1996 or so. See you in #Wingnut.

Digital Anvil President Leaving Company Share on Bluesky Share on Facebook Share on Twitter

DA's president, Marten Davies, left Digital Anvil as of February 1 this week. There hasn't been a whole lot of explanation online, but that's to be expected. We had dinner with his son just before the movie premiere, they're a bunch of nice people. Anyhow, there are plenty of online news briefs that mention this news. AVault's here mentions Wing Commander.

Would You Like Ice in That? Share on Bluesky Share on Facebook Share on Twitter

Story by Conrad Feef. Emergency services on Hermes were working around the clock yesterday following the impact of a huge ice asteroid. Approximately 35,000 were killed in the incident, which has created a large freshwater lake on the site where the town of Gelid used to stand. On the plus side, the planet's bars have declared a 3 month happy hour in an attempt to utilise the huge surplus of ice-cubes. Any trader with an interest in Fresh Water will find prices below normal.

Of Mods and Conversions Share on Bluesky Share on Facebook Share on Twitter

There's been some discussion on the possibility of a Wing Commander mod for Homeworld on Sierra's Homeworld message board. And Thomas Bruckner's been working on a Babylon 5 to Wing Commander Prophecy model converter. His website is located here.

Have You Seen This Magazine? Share on Bluesky Share on Facebook Share on Twitter

According to LOAF's brother the latest issue of Toyfare includes some kind of Wing Commander cartoon. We haven't been able to locate it yet, so if anyone has a copy of the magazine, we'd really appreciate a scan of the page.

Venom Vandals Vanquished Share on Bluesky Share on Facebook Share on Twitter

M.C. Gammer gives you the low-down. Local authorities on Crius were celebrating last night following a bust on a Nerve Toxins ring. A huge amount of highly dangerous (and highly illegal) chemicals were impounded and subsequently destroyed. A jubilant and somewhat inebriated CIS spokesman spoke with me, saying 'It's great! We've accounted for the key players in the planet's illegal toxins trade, and our sources indicate that the market for lethal poisons has practically collapsed'. He then kissed me.

Wing Commander Debuts on Canadian TV Share on Bluesky Share on Facebook Share on Twitter

Michel Béland reports that the movie has been aired twice already on Canal Indigo, a Quebec Pay-per-View channel. It retained its original title, and the (French) dubbing was even acceptable. The company says it's not impossible that it will be aired again one of these days.

Nothing Beats a Wing Commander Share on Bluesky Share on Facebook Share on Twitter

Looney Games' Freespace 2 review makes a couple of references to Wing Commander 3. Here's a nice snippet:
But none of this is news - all of these things could be done with Wing Commander 3.

Wing Commander Movie Takes Berlin Share on Bluesky Share on Facebook Share on Twitter

According to Stardust the movie is doing quite well in Germany. After only one week it's drawn over 40,000 fans to theaters. It's currently ranked 8th on the German cinema charts.
