Tayla - Mission A is a mission in Wing Commander Privateer. It may be accessed by talking to Tayla at the bar on New Detroit in the New Detroit System after completing Ernesto Sandoval - Mission A.

Mission Description

Take cargo of plastics from New Detroit to Oakham pirate base in the Pentonville system.

Pays 10000 credits.

Tayla will be waiting for you there to give you your next mission.

TAYLA
Call me Tayla. I used to do business with Sandoval.
PLAYER
I'd rather talk about my face. What's wrong with it, anyway?  
TAYLA
Nothing, except the police have it plastered all over the holos.
Sandoval is dead, and they want you for questioning.
Tough break, $CS, but I'm here to offer you work now that you're...between jobs.
I need you to make four special deliveries for me.
PLAYER
By special you mean risky and illegal.  
TAYLA
And lucrative. The first run pays 10,000 credits.
PLAYER
That's lucrative? Thanks, but I got my own leads to follow up.
TAYLA
Right, the artifact. You have it, but you don't know anything about it.
I could fill you in...after you fly my missions. How about it, Captain?

PLAYER
With the police after me, I could use the trip off-system...
TAYLA
Good, but you don't get paid until you finish.
PLAYER
Suits me, so long as you tell me about the artifact now.  
TAYLA
After you're done. Now listen, the first mission is easy.
Your cargo will be a legal load of plastics.
Although your manifest will say you're running it to Newcastle...
...you'll deviate from your course along the way and deliver it to Oakham...
...a hidden pirate base where I have connections.
While you work for me, the pirates will leave you alone. Count on it.
Leave your ship unattended and I'll meet you there in the bar.
PLAYER
Just be sure no one kills you while I'm gone, Tayla.  
TAYLA
I've got an investment in you...and I mean to collect.
PLAYER
I think I'll check into this artifact business alone.
TAYLA
Bad choice. You're in danger as long as you hold onto that thing...
...and you're walking away from more money than you ever dreamed of!

Hey, I just spoke with my contact on Oakham.
They told me you still haven't delivered the cargo!
PLAYER
Something came up, sweetheart. You know how it is.  
TAYLA
Sure do. Unless you transport that load of plastic to Oakham...
...deviating from your flight path to Newcastle to throw off pursuit...
...you can forget about the 10,000 credits!
PLAYER
Okay, okay, no need to panic. I'll get to it.  
And why should I worry about being followed if my cargo's legit?
TAYLA
Consider it a competency test.
You know the rest...?
PLAYER
Yeah. Once I arrive, I should leave my ship unattended, right?
TAYLA
If you want to make a profit, yeah.
And don't go shooting up any pirates there!
You work for me, so they'll leave you alone...unless you get trigger happy.
Meet me in the bar at Oakham when you're done. And step on it!

That remains to be seen.
TAYLA
Look, it's a great deal.
Your cargo will consist of nothing but plastics...completely legal.
Supposedly you'll be running it to Newcastle, but actually...
...you'll divert to Oakham, a hidden pirate base, and dock.
You won't have any trouble with the pirates because you work for me.
Once there, leave your ship unattended and meet me in the bar there at Oakham for your pay.
In exchange for the service, I'll pay you 10,000 credits. And don't forget...
...I have information on the artifact, info I'll share...if you fly for me.

Privateer Playtester's Guide

TAYLA - MISSION A

Summary When you return for payment, you learn from a mysterious woman named Tayla that Sandoval has been killed for the arficact which is now in your possession. And you are a suspect. She promises you information on the artfact if you'll do some work for her, namely, to run the following four missions. The first job is to take plastics to Oakham (a pirate base in Pentonville system). She'll meet you there.
Payment 10,000 credits.
Requirements Land at Oakham (Pentonville, Nav 1).
Opponents None created by mission. Any hostile encounters are random. Note that all pirates in Pentonville are friendly as long as you work for Tayla.
  • This mission is fairly easy, except for the asteroid field surrounding Oakham. When you get close to Oakham, try not to travel faster than 300kps. The asteroids are actually attracted to you the faster you go. So, if you go flying through there at 1000kps, expect the asteroids to come flying in. - "Deetchman"

WC:CIC Game Guide

Description

Sandoval is dead, so no 20,000 credit fee. Tayla offers you a mission, and since you have nothing better to do, accept it. More importantly, Tayla offers to give you information on the alien artifact that you are now stuck with. Don't forget to repair and restock missiles before taking off. There is no shipyard where you are heading.

Objectives

Carry cargo of Plastics to Oakham pirate base, land, then meet Tayla in the bar.

Notes

  • True to her word, the Pirates of Pentonville leave you alone. That just leaves you the Retros to worry about.

Comments : on all of tayla's missions just afterburn past the patrols with a centurion, if you don't own a centurion i suggest that you take a break from the plot missions and earn enough to buy one.

Comments : you can easily afterburn past the patrols (or almost any enemy) with an orion too.

Comments : Got to 3rd base with Tayla. She's not nearly as sarcastic after she sees your ship and 'equipment.' Oh, that may be info she wouldn't like me tossing around. Forget I mentioned it.
