What's Better?

So they would have scrapped the whole project without even trying to recoup some losses through sales? That sounds very sad... :(

Yes... remember A-10? And Ultima Online 2? After a certain point, games become too expensive to waste money actually publishing them...

Its not unheard of for games to go in development even longer. Diablo 2, Tribes 2, hell, they started development of Duke Nukem Forever back in '97 and it STILL isnt out. They could have gone a bit longer to develop the multiplayer considering how many units they sold and maybe even more WITH the mulitplayer if it had been available.

They actually switched to Unreal engine a few years ago. So when its finished it will be Unreal 3 engine powered.:)

Theres no way id will let them use the Quake 3 engine. 3DRealms burned that bridge when they went to the Unreal engine in the first place.

No, really...i read it some months ago...the unreal engine is old now, maybe unreal2 but not unreal.

Half life was the Quake 2 engine. They can still modify Unreal enough that it will seem like new. If they change engines again it will push the game back at least another year.

But the Unreal engine doesn´t have that thing to do circles surfaces or something like this.... and believe me they will use Quake 3 engine. and maybe the next year we will play DNF.,But i have all my money in Jedi Outcast

Im sure they can do whatever they want with an engine to get the results they want. They have lots of programming tricks. But NO Quake 3 engine. They are not changing to a third engine. Especially not an iD engine. iD wouldnt give it to them.

Because they can get millions from all the OTHER companies that want to use the Quake 3 engine for their games. Deal!
