please spare me. Are you basing this opinion on just the fact that the Longbow has more weapons? The Hellcat could easily overpower a Longbow.

Oh yeah, anyway I won't vote in this thread. The "sucks in every possible way" Arrow was my most hated Confed fighter.

I don't think you can fly the Arrow in WCIV.

Using the keyboard, holding shift down seems to help with the 'turning' problem in the Longbow for me.

Hellcat 98 pound weakling.

Longbow 400 pound gorilla.

I don't hold a lot of love for the Longbow, but at least it has defensive turrets and can take out Capital Ship targets. The Hellcat seems to lack specification: It's slower than an Arrow and lacks the armor and punch of a Thunderbolt or Longbow.

What I like to do with the Longbow is, put 25% power to engines, 75% to shields, thrash everyone with torps and missiles, and then point home or next nav point and get the stragglers with wingman and tail gun.

The Longbow, by far. I've gone through missions with a Hellcat and coming back without a scratch because I was able to out-run that Vaktoth. The worst part of the Longbow isn't it's speed, however, it's maneuvarablity is what gives it a black mark in my book. Crawling through space trying to shoot down that Darket you know you could blast away in one well-placed shot 500 Klicks away is a lesson in frustration.

The Longbow has enough missles to make guns and manuervability not that important. It took me a while to get used to the Longbow but eventually I learned to love it. BYE BYE Kilrathi Cruiser!!!:D

Except that without maneuverability and guns, you may not live long enough to make a torpedo run on that cruiser because its escorts have chewed your armor to shreds and that same lack of maneuverability let you get hit by the missiles their fighters were carrying.

I personally preferred the Vindicator or Avenger over the standard Thunderbolt, myself.

I have to say that I've always preferred firepower and armour to speed and manoeuvrability.

Me too...I always liked Knight's way of doing things. Iceman isn't for me.

Iceman could be a bit odd at times (especially in briefings), but I always respected his severe, contemplative mood.

As for finesse/blah/whatever, I just do a Blair and say "I’ll do the best I can, no matter what ship I’m assigned to."

Unitll that Dralthi launches those heat seekers and than BAM! your cat-food before you can name all the saints in Detroit!

That's why, ideally, Longbows should be backed up by their escort as they are in the strike mission against the pirate frigate in WC4.
