The Real CIC Return of the King Thread

I liked only the lion from Narnia...

And they're nothing like LOTR.

IIRC (yes I lived at this time ;) ), Mastermind Tolkien didn't takes C.S. Lewis, the Author of the christian fairy tale Narnia, seriously.

Narnia reminds me a little bit on Wizard of Oz. Perhaps the similiarity of the Lion protagonist (ok the one from Oz was fearfully, - now - in our timeline, after a few days, he died at an age of 670 years on intestinal cancer ;) ).

That was the best post to the Chat Zone ever.

I'm aware that they were done by BBC in the 80's (I've seen them more than once). I heard that, because of the success of LOTR, someone is planning to do the Chronicles of Narnia (whether all of them, or just some, I don't know) in the same cinematic quality. I was just hoping someone else had heard about it and might know more on the subject than me.

And, I didn't say they're exactly alike, but that they're somewhat similar. And, just to explain myself, they're similar because they both contain a lot of the same creatures, such as dwarves, talking trees, dragons, and orcs (though, they only appeared for about one sentence in TLTWATWR, and then I believe it was under the name of goblin). At any rate, if no one's heard anything about this, then forget I mentioned it.

Weird Malar.

In order to underline my stupid commention, I've adapted a couple of facts from a H.P. Lovecraft biography.
His cause of dead was intestinal cancer and then 67 years have past after his dead.

The pre-fifties of our last millenium, had brought out good authors (H.E. Howard, Lovecraft, Tolkien, [lol]the womanizer Nietzsche[/lol] and so on. In the sixties, authors like Larry Niven (especially to mention: the Kzinti, the uncle of the Kilrathi). :)

It wouldn't surprise me if they'd also filmed "The Hobbit" (which was the story behind how Bilbo got the ring) and kept it hush-hush.

I would agree with you but the first place to show a trailer would be at RotK. After all there is no reason to not create a mouthwatering in the fans.

If he gets any royalties from the Lord of the Rings, he just might change his mind.

Well maybe not unless he has been bitten by the Lucas bug.....Money money Moneyyy

IMDB's Where Are They Now? - Christopher Tolkein -

(2001) Literally hiding in France in retort to obsessive and extreme fans of the his father's works. Christopher changed his name (though he still writes under his birth name), keeps a low profile and continues to both enjoy retirement and act as the Tolkien Estates literary editor and heir.

I love ROTK, can't wait till the EE DVD or the plain DVD for that matter. Will they realease a Box Set aswell?

Already have seen it a few more times, plan on seeing it even more. Haven't watched a movie this many times since Phantom Menace and Matrix

Finally saw it as well... Hmm yeah - very nice and well done finish for a great trilogy (unlike lest say the Matrix trilogy). I still like the 1st part most however with 2nd and 3rd following close with about equal appeal (#3 wins slightly over #2 I'd say).
Obviously the end was a bit overdone. Also the Arwen scenes had been a bit on the weird side. Quit unfitting into the flow. "So we fight and are heroes - oh, and somewhere in the end of the world an elf maid is dying".
Don't get me wrong this is really only nitpicking and way overdrawn.
My only real real big complain about the whole trilogy is that the left out the end!!! What happened to "The Scouring of the Shire"?! Unfortunately it seems that it even won't be in the EE. The only glimpse you see of it is in the 1st movie when Frodo gets to Galadriel :-((

Aragon is important on story, you know and Arwen is important to him, so it was relevant.

Are you sure what Frodo saw with Galadirel was the scouring of the Shire? There were orcs and uruk-hai there. Maybe it's just a gimplse of a possible future.
