Say Goodbye to Overmortal

Congrats on choosing the Marines. Chose that route myself. Any idea on what MOS you're signing up for? Got any questions feel free to ask. San Diego or Paris Island?

So, I went to the recruiter. I've decided that the Marines is the branch for me. As is, though, I'm roughly 15 lbs over the weight limit for my height category, so I've gotta get that down first. I figure that won't be too hard.

Just thought I'd give an update.

Marines sure are popular nowadays ... seems every vet I meet is a 'jarhead' ... what's your reason, just out of curiousity?

Hog ass. ;)

As a (former) Grunt to another, I want to wish you good luck, god speed, and happy hunting - the damn cat's we'll never no what hit'em ;)

Eh, I've heard lots of good things about Paris Island. And, by good, I mean horribly bad and scary. I wanna go there now, just to prove to myself that I can handle it.

(can you do 3?)

Yes. But, at my weight, that ain't easy . . . at all. at all.

Well, there were several reasons.

1) EVERY marine, no matter what field they choose to go into, gets complete combat training, both with weapons, and hand-to-hand. I like that.

2) Marines are (or, at least, seem to be) the baddest dogs on the block. Figured I'd get in with the best team.

3) Former Marines tend to be more successful in their careers.

4) Girls like muscles.

5) See #4.

That depends on where you live. Where do you live, Overmortal?

Parris Island, it is :)

btw, overmortal, if you want to know some good tips about how to get your fitness prepared, send me a PM. I know a few ways how you can improve your pullups/running/situps.

82nd Airborne roxors the marines butt!

(im biased, my older bro was 82nd and they'd mop the floor with the marines in every wargame :P)

---------
keep your head down, your aim straight and if you have to be shot take it in the arse :P

Yes, you will be going to Pussy Island. It's where they train the females. They send the females there because it's less demanding. ;)

At my frat house we have 3 marines (one already did his tour, the other two are in the program, one is going to fly cobra attack helos) and one guy is in ROTC to be an officer in the rangers....crazy bunch of SOBs I've ever had the privilege to know...Overmortal all I can say is, "Fight the good fight, Heart of the Tiger."

Overmortal, I have but one thing to say to you... Enjoy the sand fleas. Those little bastards will bite the hell out of you. lol
Seriously, Parris Island isn't so bad. It's just frickin HUMID.

On another unrelated note, congratulations to me for getting into an automobile accident today! And it was my fault! I'm physically fine (so far, so good), but, wow . . . mentally/emotionally, today combined with he rest of the crap that's been happening lately (which is part of why I chose to enlist), has me feeling like I'm about as successful as a hobo. I love my life.

Dumbass.

But on the positive side, you are still alive. That's a good thing. And you're now smarter. So I guess you're not a dumbass. :D
