No one is going to take the chance and send warning to an Ambassador in the country your going to attack. They may have warned that at some point they were going to attack, but they didnt send a message to the man revealing the exact details before the attack. That would have been stupid.

Well the japonese ambassador recived the declaration of war before the attack, besides he did not know were the attacks was taking place, like I said the US never belived that Japan would attack Pearl harbor in the start of the war.
Also almost all the Battleships that were sunk were raised, fixed, upgraded and send to the war, the only one was not is the one that is a war memorial (cant remember the name).
As for the oil, Japan only had reserves for six moths, now without oil you know that the war machine cannot work.
The US embargo was just to put japan bettew a sword and a hard place, Japan decided to attack....

Again, if a country wants to conquer an entire continent, it has to be prepared for a few setbacks. It seems to me you're arguing that by not supplying a strategic resource to a aggressor that was threatening its allies and vital interests, the US effectively brought on the attack on itself, which is ludicrous. The responsibilty for launching the surprise attack on Pearl Harbour lies with Japan and no-one else.

But it's not at all ludicrous. Most Japanese would have much rather attacked the Soviet Union instead. It was really only the Japanese Navy that held a grudge against the US. However, they couldn't really attack the Soviet Union without resources for war - and oil is one such resource.

Of course, the upshot of this is that we're bloody lucky that the Americans didn't sell them oil... the Soviet Union only managed to hold off Hitler in '42 because the Germans hadn't been expecting the Russian army units from Siberia to be transferred to the frontlines.
