Yeah, Mad Bull is fun for mindless sex and violence. But Ghost in the Shell has heads blown off proper. Even something that scrapes away with a PG rating can had blood and bone. Or Street Fighter for some good old biffo. Some of Hollywood's stuff is for soft cocks compared to this.
 
Manga, and others of the style have a major advantage over their Hollywood copies... they have original storylines... most of the stuff (movies included) coming out of Hollywood are either remakes (Ocean's 11 for example (yes, this was a great movies, but it was still a remake!))or the same tired old stories (any teenie movie) in a different location/cast... The Matrix is one of the few that are worth the paper the script is written on... so much that the Wachowski brothers have got Manga directors (Toyoo Ashida- Vampire Hunter D is a prime example) in to do short stories based on the beginnings of the Matrix...
 
Yeah, I turned on CN the other day, and there it was, a lot of schoolgirls in medieval Japan fighting demons with talking animals. Hollywood doesn't do that! Unless in TMNT, perhaps.
 
Too bad the entire subculture of Manga art is based after early Walt Disney and Betty Boop. So, basicly, you're thanking early American animators.
