In many cultures (and Kilrathi is one of them, mind you ), committing suicide in the event of the disgrace is the only way to redeem oneself's honour...

Zu'kara is just ritual suicide... we've seen it done several ways. (There's a picture of the heart-stabbing in the CCG!)
