Excalibur and Thunderbolt in WCP?

In the Port Broughton article, on page 51, right on the top it reads "...displaying the first ten Midways." I guess that means that more Midways were built or are at least planned.

I think that's also refrenced by the articles heading "Last of the Mega Carriers" where it goes on to say it was the last of the Flight IIA Midway-class heavy carriers.

That could mean there was a Flight IIIA or a Flight IIB Midway-class produced, however. Possibly as a battleship instead, as we know there are "modern" Midway-class carriers around that differ "only visually" from the originals.

You CAN put Excalibur or/and ThunderB in if you want. I put Cerberus in WCP. It's possible... you might have to make some weapon changes though.

These ships were also created for WCSO (or, in the case of Murphy, created separately and then incorporated into WCSO.) The original plan called for the game to reuse the WC3/4 destroyer and cruiser.

A fact that is emphasized by the fact that these ships file names are as wc3destry and wc3crusr.

EDIT: I think the Vesuvius is WC3CV, as well.

They wanted to make more Confed Capships in the game than just Midway, Cerberus, Pelican, and Stations.

EDIT: It is WC3CV....I don't get it. It should be like "WC3Carrir" or something.

CV is the designation for carriers.

CV = Carrier.

CVE = Escort carrier.

CVX = Megacarrier.

That's right, one of the big complaints about WCP at the time was that it didn't have enough friendly capital ships.

I thought the point was that the Midway was out on her own in Kilrathi territory... or maybe that was just the excuse made as an afterthought. It would have been nice to see the Eisen first hand.

CVX = Megacarrier.
I thought the X stood for Experimental.

I don't think it was either the point of the (entire story) or an excuse -- it just was what it was, and they honestly didn't come across a need for destroyers or cruisers or anything.

I don't think it was really an experiment -it was a commissioned warship. (CVX was a real designation that existed briefly to describe the next generation of US carriers... it got changed to CV recently.)
