This light, versatile fighter has balanced weaponry and is best-suited for short-range combat against light or heavy fighters. Its maneuverability makes it a prime choice for escort, fleet defense and reconnaissance missions, and an emergency life-support system can sustain pilots for up to 7 hours.

Origin's Official Guide to Wing Commander III
The current version of the venerable Arrow fighter is a sleek and dangerous machine. Although it's the smallest and least-armored Confed fighter, many ace pilots still prefer the Arrow to the heavier Hellcat.
The Arrow is the single fastest fighter in the game. Its speed makes it hard to shake, and its low silhouette makes it hard to hit.
The Arrow is a pilot's fighter. It's just plain the most fun fighter in the game. It's the perfect dogfighter. If you're still a little bit uncertain about your piloting abilities, you'll definitely want the extra protection offered by the Hellcat, but if you feel you've completely mastered the art of combat flying, you may find you're best able to make full use of your expertise in an Arrow.
- It's one of only two fighters in the game with an afterburner slide, allowing it to make quick jogs and dodges. This is especially useful to avoid a target at the end of a strafing run.
- Its armament is equivalent to the Hellcat's (though it doesn't hold out as long at full power) and it actually mounts two more missiles.
- It carries a decent complement of decoys, and even if it runs out, a top-notch pilot can often evade a missile.
- The Arrow can fire a volley of about a dozen shots at full guns without running into energy trouble.
- The Arrow's useful whenever you're up against Skipper missiles - you'll be able to catch up with them in a pinch if you miss your first pass.

Tactical Analysis
I'll never forget the first that they shipped us a brand new Arrow to our carrier. I hit the afterburners and spent the rest of the day trying to pull my eyes back to the front of my head. Now that was speed.
From A Wing and a Prayer: An Ace's View, by Colonel Winfield T. Hart (Retired), Enterprise Press, 2675.
- The Arrow is the fastest ship you have access to in the game. As a result, however, it has very light armor and carries light armaments.
- The Arrow is a good choice for pure dog-fighting missions against Darkets and even Dralthis.
- The Arrow has tighter turning radius than any other Confederation fighter. This makes shaking incoming missiles and enemy fighters easier. Because of its maneuverability, it's a good fighter for escort or fleet-protection duty -- as long as it's dealing with medium- or light- attacking fighters. Otherwise, the Hellcat V is the best choice.

Scout
The Scout is the standard Arrow V spaceframe, relatively unchanged over the last half century. Its light armament makes it unsuitable for pounding matches, but its record setting speed and maneuverability are ideal for hit-and-run strikes. Arrow Scouts are also a common sight at orbital racing competitions.

Eclipse
The Eclipse, or Cloak Arrow, takes advantage of captured Kilrathi technology: a full spectrum cloaking device and a hardpoint of Vampire missiles. Expert Eclipse pilots combine the cloak with the signature Arrow speed to seemingly appear in two places at once. Owing to the design’s origins as a Confederation black ops ship, Eclipses are the rarest Arrow variant.

Guardian
The Guardian trades some of its engine capacity for heavier armor and weapons, allowing it to serve as a point-defense fighter. The name comes from their role in protecting capital ships: CAGs keep a steady rotation of Guardians in space, using their Sonar to locate invisible enemy fighters. The deployment of early model Guardians countered the testing of Kilrathi Skipper missiles, delaying production of the weapon by fifteen years.
