Where are the editing regulars?

Thanks, I'll check it right away. First though, about the Kilrathi Transport...

I don't normally even touch editing tools, but I just went and extracted all the WC3 iffs from the objects.tre file. I don't understand though - I found the Kilrathi transport... in fact, I found four files that seem to most likely be it. Are these all the destroyed version that you were talking about? Here are the file numbers.

00000002.IFF - KTRANS
00000203.IFF - KTRANS
00000276.IFF - KTRAND
00000367.IFF - KTRANS

Now, looking into the IFF files themselves... well, I know nothing whatsoever about WC ship data, but obviously KTRAND is the dead transport - it has no turrets, or anything else for that matter. What I want to know then, is what those other three are.

BTW, there is another method by which you will be able to distinguish all the WC3 capship iffs - instead of searching for their names, search for "TURLASER" - after all, they all use the same laser turret, non?

Already tryed them before, the 276 one is the destroyed, the others when i try to convert just start creating mat files until there is no more space in my HD. I will try to get some more space and try the turret thing tomorrow.

Yes, the Avenger fighter...I don't know if we'll have the opportunity to use one though...unless I come up with a mission that we can use it in and a proper loadout. Otherwise we could use it to tractor in those ejected pilots(not that we will actually see this). Too bad we can't use tractors. Jratheks are decent fighters, but I'd have to change the loadout. Anyway, with the planned ships we have already, there ought to be more than enough for this episode at least.

Q, you know...we could find a use for a deystroyed transport(wreckage) in three perhaps. Nah, maybe in four or later. 1-3 are almost revised, BTW. Did you ever do that map for one?
 
I guess maybe it's a weird bug of some sort.

But I wouldn't worry about it... the Armada ships will do just fine

. The only problem is that when I use them, the game seems to crash every once in a while. Oh yeah, and you can fly through some parts of them.

About the Avenger, I'm planning to use it in Mission 7. We won't be flying it - just escorting it to the Venice jump point. Essentially, its purpose will be to contact the Confed fleet on the other side of the jump point, and then jump back to us with its report. And yeah, it could also be used to tractor the ejected pilots.

Are we sure we can't use tractor beams, btw? If you eject in WCP and the aliens pick you up, we see the Devil Ray using a tractor beam. Is there any way we could get a Confed AI to use that? Naturally, the player will never see the inside of a tractor-capable ship

And heck, I didn't even think of that - but yeah, the wrecked transports would be great. KillerWave, can you convert that one for us? And if you could convert the wreckage of the Confed transport, and maybe the BWS Intrepid...

No, I didn't do a map for 1. I can do one now, if you want.
BTW, I've got more ideas for missions 4-8, as well as some of the losing path missions. I just have to type them up (I was waiting at a bus stop when I came up with them

Really? The only one that didn't work for me was the Goran. I had some excellent upgrades planned for that thing when I got back to college(that's the only real time I have for games

). Got the email. Basically, that's about what I had in mind. After I get your "One" map, I'll send my 1-3 revisions and a little later let you know what I want to do differently on 4-8.

I'm fairly confident that we can have an Avenger tractor cutscene but I'm not sure how we can script a ship tractoring an object(or many). Fortunately we don't need to know this week. Give me a bit of time and I'll find out if it can be done.

Ok, i will give a try in that kilrathi transport wreckage, and try to find the wreckage of the confed transport too, but to do the Intrepid one, you guys would need to extract them from WC4, find the iffs and send to me, i dont have WC4

And with the turlaser thing, i found all the kilrathi capships and some confed ones, but didnt found that kilrathi transport. It should be in the iffs we talked before, but for some reason i cant convert it.

Also (usually) the initial mats created contains the ship textures, but the ones that the iffs creates are empty. I will try to get help on this one...

Just add another hardpoint so you can have your missile variety and torpedoes. I didn't notice being able to fly through it...
The Goran had 6 guns, but of light to medium power. If you don't adapt the hv. particle, then you will have 6 still that fire, but no torpedoes.
KW, the reason I couldn't get the ship to work at first was the files unzipped into their own program files directory within SO.
Q, about my Panther...You can never have too many turrets.

. I'm not quite sure which VDU to replace with the Avenger VDU. Does it have to be a fighter, or can it be a capship VDU?
All the other capships can be converted fine? I don't really understand why the Kil Transport doesn't work. Ah, well.

Yeah, if you can, find out about the tractor. If it's impossible, just check if a ship can be forced to disappear without exploding or anything. In that case, we'd just have to script the Avenger to get as close to a pilot as possible, and just have him disappear

Should be possible. The Devil Ray and Condor SAR did it. I don't know just how late I'm going to be up so keep your time with the French nationalist of yours to a min, ok?
 
Yeah, i think the avenger vdu must replace a fighter vdu...and i have absolutely no idea why i wasnt able to convert the kat transport. I'm sending you the Wraith along with the destroyed kat transport.
See if the transport was what you had in mind, if so, i will look for the confed transport. If you are going to use it, i think it would be nice to put it inside a debries field, like the first mission in WCP.

Death's Head, I'll start drawing the map in a sec. Right now, we to decide which Confed fighters are not going to appear in that strike group (in other words, which VDUs can we get replace?). The capships involved include the TCS Eisen, the TCS Vega (a Concordia class fleet carrier), and one or two cruisers, but they don't necessarily need to carry fighters. The Confed fighters will only be used in that one mission (unless you've decided to make things different), so we'll mostly need bombers and heavy fighters. Presumably, there will be a few Devs and Vamps from Wolfpack Squadron, and a few Shrikes + Panthers from the Vega. I guess that means that we can get rid of the Wasp, the Tigershark, and of course the Piranha. D'ye agree?

i'm not sure if it was clear, but we don't need the wraith simply because we don't have enough missions to incorporate effectively. May I see the transport you have done?
 
I don't want to see any more fighters from that force other than Vampires and Devastators at present. I might like to see some panthers with my little point defense turret, though.

Ok, I've finished the diagram, DH. I'm just writing a quick explanation now, and you should have it in about five-ten minutes.
I think there's already a completed Goran, btw. Check the ships section, either in the CIC or at HCl's site.
Ok, so we'll have Devs and Vamps, as well as a wing of Panthers from the TCS Vega. They won't have any point defense turrets though, because they haven't been invented

KillerWave, that means that you can replace any of the following fighter VDUs: Piranha, Tigershark, Wasp, Shrike.

I have a goran, didnt make it, but if i remember correctly it was made by a guy who worked in the UE project. I will run it to see if it works, btw, i just put engine flames in the wraith, will sent it to you in a minute Q. DH Wwant a copy?

KillerWave, I can't seem to get the transport to work. Does it work fine on yours? Also, when I tried using the Wraith, all I got was a Piranha. That... that's not right
