WC2 crashes on takeoff on 4th mission

Hi,

Love this site and all you have done.

Please help me, I am dying to replay all my old WC games from end to end using my xbox360 controller and xpadder to map the keys.
I finished WC1 on dosbox but WC2 is giving me problems.

I got the sound and speech working using
loadfix -10 WC2

but when taking off for the 4th mission I get the following error;
"Sorry, an error has occurred while reading from disk. Please note the following information:
altships.25855 #1 (ERR 6 PS-1 LB199156 FL0) at RP
Check your configuration. If the problem persists, please ring Origin..."

I have tried various loadfix settings, switching off ems in the config etc and unloading xpadder.
I am running from C drive which is NTFS. My OS is Win XP pro.

You should post this on "tech support" , anyway .

I dont think that error has to do with DOSBOX .Maybe your disc is actually damaged..?if you got the game on discs.

What version of Wc2 do you have ?
 
Try different loadfix values? you can set it from 1-64. maybe bumping it up will be enough. I had crashing issues with my WC2 and fixed it with the value "loadfix -32".

Thanks for the replies.

I tried heaps of loadfix settings from -10 through to -64 (below 10 stops speech from working, which I just can't have cause I want to hear Doomsday say "We're in trouble now" over the comm).

Just now, I re-copied the files, and it seems to be working, so looks like it was a file corruption of some sort. Thanks for the help.
