Tarawa's flight deck

its an old 80's style computer type with the fat legs on the bottom
 
Yeah there's several just like that...just google "free fonts" and you should find what you want. Or alternately search for "sci fi fonts" and you'll find it too.
 
WOW, lots of new pics! MArc, you don't need to attach the pics, you can put them on some bitbucket thingie and link. That you help, i guess

I have... no clue as to what those words mean, but I am very interested to find out. if you can explain them to me in "baby steps" so that I can understand, you have my complete attention.
 
soon you should try adding the marine commando's landing craft suspended from the ceiling to see what it looked like possibly on the way to kilrah
 
he he he he... yeah, I had it in mind since the beginning that it wouldn't truly be Tarawa's flight deck without the marine LC's. So half-way through I deared to envision this thing- big, compact, armed and ready to unload certain death to the cats.

interesting concept....I always got the impression from ER that basically the whole underside of the craft was devoted to ground supression missiles in some several missile bays.

Nice start....
 
I like the concept. It looks good and has a little feel of a Higgins boat too. Nice touch. :cool: I not sure about the tail fins :confused: but I can’t wait to see more. :D

I don’t know if this will be of any help but here is what info I found. It looks like you already have most of it already though.

Landing craft has laser guns and mass driver mini-cannons ER p.117 (point defense)
Area Bombardment missiles snap out of the undercarriage ER p.121(air-to-ground suppression missiles ER p.227)
Nearly a hundred tons unloaded. ER p.168
Of course there is a nuke on there somewhere too. I have to find and log that reference sometime.

I know what you mean about those. At the time I told myself they would make a kind of "fire cover" for when the infantry go out - but I'm shure that was just my lasy side speaking :o
I think it would make more sence to change the engine layout into two blocks on either side of that back door...

Artisticly speaking - they look GREAT (that's what I think anyway)
I think that the point of it is to be visualy appealing. after all, space fighters don't need wing - but all WC fighters have wings, in in some configurations - even if they are pure vacume ships.

Personaly, I think that loosing the finns would make you LC really naked and boring. (aside from them providing cover from the engine wash while using the aft hatch)
All in all, an excelent ship!

On a semi-related note, has anyone ever made an attempt to conceptualize the transport class from which the Tarawa-type escort carriers were built. It seems like that would be a good project for a canon referenced ship class for which we have a pretty good idea of the general design features.

...all I will say is that "The Reckonning" mode will probably have the awnser you seek... :D :D :D
