It's mentioned in one of the novels somewhere - I forget which one - that with the exception of the handful of stealth fighter craft in the Kilrathi Fighter Fleet, Confed Fighters did indeed have the edge over the Kilrathi Fighters.
I believe this is in the opening of Fleet Action, when they are discussing the curret status of the Kilrathi Military. But I'm probably wrong about that.
