Sheffield Class Destroyer

A low poly model of the Sheffield Class Destroyer I made a few days ago.
Like its simply but functional design. I'm trying out some various insignia as I go since this is my first real try at texturing any model.

Looks really good to me, if your trying different insignias, maybe try a BWS Sheffield or something, i think that would also look cool.

Nice model :)

For some reason the white on my comp screen is blowing out right between the wireframe and the textured part, looks like someone melted it with a heat gun...

Hey! Great job. One proviso - 'Sheffield class' isn't canonical... we just happen to see a TCS Sheffield in Wing Commander III. We don't know the 'true' class name for these guys... *yet*. :)

Very nice model and setup. I agree with Johnny too, the schematic like image looks really cool.

wow, this could so easely turn into an awsome tech manual... I may be jumping the gun a little but still. Very nice.

I think I see some letters on the forward hull but I can't quite make them out... is it a ship name? TCN A...something.

tCS Agincourt by the looks of it... though i thought that was a waterloo class...

there is no official class name for any of the capital ships in wing commander 3. You'll just have to wait for a name from an official source to be certain.

Understood but found it a great name to use, or most logical. Read a post discussing about the class name. Being either Coventry Class (with shuttledeck/hangar bay) or Sheffield Class or something completely else. Sticked with Sheffield since the model I made has no hangarbay :) but thanks for pointing that one out NinjaLA and Bandit LOAF.

For Kilrathi_Princess a black background version. White can be a pain sometimes but it gives a nice technical feel that I like.

frostytheplebe and Marc:
Yes it is called the TCS Agincourt. Didn't know there was another ship already called Agincourt though. Just found it a good name.

A technical manual and UBW insignia markings are something that might happen. But not yet. Need to see how things work out.

cheers,

There's also a Tallahassee-class TCS Agincourt, in the WC:CCG. Here's the card: http://ccg.jetlag.us/v/All/c-mo-tcs-agi.jpg.html

Don't worry about it - I just like to get it on record that these names aren't canonical, just in case we do get an official name someday. Which could happen sooner than we think.

Sheffield and Talhassee Class Cap Ships

Cruiser005.jpg

Another model, this time of the Talhassee Class cruiser along with the previous destroyer as a size comparison. Recently made both after taking a look at the Wingcommander Saga art work which was a great inspiration. And also thanks to the time I played WC III and IV.

I love it. It better be called the Sheffield class, that's the city I grew up in. :D

It's a brilliant model though, if it's your first real try then it's even better. Can't wait to see what else you come up with.

Cheers,

Red Coat.

Well, no matter what happens there's still a TCS Sheffield in Wing Commander III (though I imagine the WC3 escorts are a step further from the actual locations - they're probably named after the HMS Sheffield and HMS Coventry sunk in the Falklands War).

Indeed, which are, in-turn, named after the actual locations. :P

A great pity about both ships. The WC3 Sheffield and Coventry survive the war, don't they? Or are they destroyed in the later missions of the final campaign to destroy Kilrah?

Cheers mate,

Red Coat.
