Seventh Part of the Seal
Hello all, for anyone who has played this game, have you tried it both ways? (Male/female roles)

I have always been the Male Jedi Consular as I have always enjoyed having the handmaiden, Brianna, as a party member. But for once I decided to try as the female character.

There aren't TOO many differences until later on in the game when you have to face Atris. One major thing I noted was you see more of Kreia's dark side when she starts messing with the Disciple. Other then that, I honestly believe that with all these small details, the game is infinitely more enjoyable and indepth as the male character...

Any thoughts/rebuttal?

Actually, out of curiosity, I had done both sexes. There's also quite the difference where interaction is concerned with the female bounty hunter...forget her name at the moment. She's a lot softer when you're the female. I do like the pure scoundrel that comes out when first meeting Atton.

Conversations and getting along with most of the party seems to be easier overall...further example of this is that Atris doesn't seem to hate you nearly as much being female, so jealously extreme does seem to rear its ugly head when male...no lightning strikes out at the Handmaiden when you're female.

At some point, I actually want to go back to play the original KOTOR as a female, because I hear that Carth hits on you hard. I also hear, however, while playing the male, when Bastila starts quizzing you about what the mission is like, how serious you're supposed to be as a Jedi and such...if you start messing with her, she starts getting mad. At that option, there's supposed to be a conversation choice that says something like, "You're cute when you're angry", where her response is to have her jaw drop clean to China. That's gotta be priceless.

When I have time to really kill, I need to do the dark side paths for both and see how the stories branch out.

I played it twice, female and male. I normally don't play female characters, but back then I somehow thought I had to try it.
And...
well, most things I noticed were said already. It's really different, if you look at the dialogues.

There are significant differences in playing both games with either male or female leads. That's part of the fun and adds to replay value.

I have to admit, I take Frosty's opnion on the sequel here, if only because it was so badly crippled by its grossly premature release. A huge disappointment for everyone.

There is so much wrong with this game that never could have been remedied by "finishing" it. One example: Bao Dur.

I don't think it is that bad but I do agree that it feels unfinished compared to the first game. For the longest time I was hoping there would be a third game that might tie the first two together a little more and wrap things up. That is actually one of the reasons I first bought my Xbox 360, hoping that they would make the third game for this system.

The third game seems to have become http://www.swtor.com/

I'm very excited about it. Basically, I think Obsidian are a bunch of dudes who should have been put out to pasture long ago. They no longer know what they're doing, they bungled the easiest sequel in the world, and they don't deserve their new license.

Basically, none of us has ever played the second half of KOTOR2, which would have been a crappy game anyway because of shitty voice acting, a rather boring and inexplicable main character, and Sith overload. The blame for this falls squarely on Obsidian and I'm never going to get over it.

wait, so the second game gave you sith overload, but you are excited by an MMO where a good chunk of the players will be working for the sith empire?

To be honest, I enjoy number 2 for a quick diversion, or to kill time. I think its good for that purpose. A fun half an hour diversion.

What I liked about the second game was your ability to influence the other characters, if your character was very high in light side (jedi) or dark side (sith) points they could influence the alignment of others and make them lighter or darker. And if your character was close to another character, he/she could teach them the use of a lightsaber and force powers. You couldn't do this in the first game.

There are some, though, that you just can't seem to do anything with. I never got The Handmaiden or the bounty hunter (huntress?) to gain Force Sensitivity, even though the plot suggests it.

It does feel unfinished to be sure...the end cinematic is one of the more anticlimactic things I've seen in quite some time.

They can be trained, it just requires the proper influence choices. There's a guide to it somewhere on the net.
Me, I enjoyed the game. Played through several times. Other than the last hour or so I found it a great game, with all these new things that weren't in the first.
For those who were disappointed in the ending, the PC version has a restoration project based (I believe, it's been a long time since I checked in on it) documents on what was cut from the game. Things like HK-47's copies and the proper ending.

It' more than that it's kind of tricky IIRC you had to fight and defeat Handmaiden several times on Ebon Hawk, and you could train bounty huntress on Nar Shadda only, but it could be done

Huh...never knew about the Nar Shadda bit.

I've beaten Handmaiden in Ebon Hawk combat and she says that she'll become your student, learn the ways of the Force, renounce her restriction from it. But it never happened, at least on my game.

Any idea who's hosting the project, where it's located, etc?

That's not the same as introducing three new Sith lords immediately after we got to know two other new ones. And each one has a different gimmick, but only one is interesting. That was lame. A bunch of people doing Sith missions for XP isn't the same.
