Yea - I think a lot of people have that impression. First of all - I write music. Not many people my age write music - and if they do, it's usually like - rock band stuff. And not to put it down, but usually kid rockband's think about how it sounds, and not the actual notes and in the composition - songwriting vs. composing.... that sorta stuff. Secondly, I act my age. Lots of 16 year olds act like 7 year olds. I won't say I'm mature for my age - I just am my age unlike lots of people around me.
And yea - I live in NJ, which has the graduated liscense. At 16 you need to pass a written test. Once you do that, you get a permit that allows you to drive with an instructor. After 6 hours with an instructor, you get a permit, which means you have to be with a liscensed driver over 21 and can only have 1 person under 21 who isn't in your immediate family in the car. You also can't drive between 11:00 PM and 6:00 AM. When you turn 17, you take a road test. If all goes well, you get a provisional liscense. You can drive by yourself, but with only one person under 21 in the car that isn't in your immediate family. You also can't drive from midnight to 5:00 AM. Once you turn 18, and you don't have points on your liscense, you get an unrestriced liscense.
Basically what it comes down to is the New Jersey legislature feels it necessary to either make everything restricted or illegal. Except breathing that is.
