BREAKING NEWS: GOG to Resume EA Releases (August 23, 2011)

Bandit LOAF

Long Live the Confederation!
GOG has announced that, as previously indicated, they will be resuming their releases of Electronic Arts licensed games this Thursday, August 25th. Previous releases have been heavy on Origin-developed games (including Privateer, Crusader: No Remorse and the Ultima Underworld series) and GOG has already been quoted as saying that more Wing Commanders are coming... we could see one in as little as two days! Here's the official release:
Back in June, when we announced that Electronic Arts joins GOG's DRM-free Revolution, we made a promise. After releasing couple stunning classics like Dungeon Keeper, Crusader: No Remorse and Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri, we took some time off from EA releases, but promised to bring back more great titles from this publisher in late summer. The time has come to say farewell to the summer and take you all gamers back to the Old School with the release of more EA classic games. Be sure to check back this Thursday to see for yourself what the next batch from Electronic Arts and GOG.com brings!

Should we consider having an Origin GOG release party?

I know wcnut has been in #wingnut lately looking for opponents (say wcnut, Pete and whoever, let's play WCP tonight....) and I wouldn't mind getting a game of Arena in.

I'm thinking that there will be an Ultima release. Perhaps the first three games along with the first Wing Commander?

Knowing GOG, it may be something from left field--but I'm absolutely sure we'll see more Ultimas and Wing Commanders before this thing is over. (... mostly because they said so, but for other reasons too.)

Yay, it's WC 1+2 and Dungeon Keeper 2! Though I haven't found out if the add-ons for WC are with it and if it's the KS version or the original version (they give the release date 1990 for WC1...)

I'll buy them all immediately but I hope i'll get my WLAN back to stable conditions this weekend, so I can download them. Though, they're so small, maybe even my connection will accomplish it without too much hassle.

Wohoo, thanks to dLAN, I could finally download the games. Ah, it's already great and will be even better once the addons come out. Here's to many more WC release (and hopefully Syndicate one day)!

Syndicate isn't in the current package--they're holding those rights back for their Project Redlime launch.
