A word on WC4 in Win2K - I'm working on a fix.

I Need Help

Hey Guys does anyone know how to get Wing Commander IV to run on an XP system

You see I've managed to install it but as soon as I go to play the game it just freezes on me and all I get are the conversation options and nothing else and then i just get a blank screen

please help me
 
What happens when you select an option and hit enter?

Are you running this directly in windows? With compatibility mode or the Windows 95 patch installed? In DOSBox?
 
OK I've been running it in compatability mode for Win95

When I selected an option and it freezes at the start of the Cut scene
 
You don't need to see any documentation or the box to tell. Windows versions of games have distinctive menus/interfaces/etc that would never exist in a DOS game. Some of the files that exist on the disc would make reference to this as well. You should just be able to tell by the manner in which you execute the program. You're either running the Windows version already, or you're running the DOS one and should install the Windows patch.
 
Great. Was there anything in particular you had to do to get it working or was it just installing the Windows patch?
