Talk to Sandra Goodin

GOODIN
$NM, I'm Captain Goodin, attache to Admiral Terrell. We've been expecting you.
PLAYER
And yet no cake? I'm crushed.
Excuse my flippancy, but it's not every day I have the honor of being arrested.
GOODIN
You're not under arrest, $NM. Though we have all the evidence we need.
What does the word smuggler mean to you?
PLAYER
It's an antonym for plausible deniability.
Sorry, Cap. I won't say another word without my lawyer.
GOODIN
Relax. I'm only here to extend an...invitation.
You'll proceed to Perry Naval Base, where the Admiral will interview you personally.
PLAYER
Regarding...?
GOODIN
Playing dumb, huh? Have it your way, then.
We've traced a series of disappearing and destroyed ships to your movements.
Looks like wherever you go, disaster follows.
Tell me, $NM, are the Kilrathi paying you to test their secret weapon...
...or do you merely keep the plunder?
PLAYER
I don't know what you're talking about, Cap.
GOODIN
You'll have plenty of time to think about it... en route to Perry.
PLAYER
And if I don't want to go?
GOODIN
You don't have to. As I said, you're not under arrest.
But something out there has the hots for you. Something nasty.
And if you really don't know what it is...
...if you're as much in the dark as we are...
...maybe the Navy and $CS can help each other out. How about it?
Accept Refuse
PLAYER
I'll hear the Admiral out, Goodin.
But I don't like sleeping with the military.
GOODIN
You don't have to kiss us, $NM, just grit your teeth and close your eyes.
PLAYER
Better get a move on. You never know what's out there waiting for you...
PLAYER
Sorry, but working with you military types makes me nervous.
I'd rather tackle a monster than a bureaucracy.
GOODIN
Red tape or blood, same color either way. No skin off my nose.
I'll be here if you change your mind.

GOODIN
Look, I know you hate cooperating with authority...
...but Admiral Terrell is waiting for you at Perry Naval Base.
Are you heading out, or not?
PLAYER
Yeah, I guess I might as well get it over with...

GOODIN
Really, $NM, you'd be smart to head to Perry Naval Base at max speed.
The Admiral wants your help in destroying that thing, whatever it is...
...and if you've got a brain in your head, you'll cooperate.
Will you meet with him at Perry or not?

PLAYER
I'll hear the Admiral out, Goodin.
But I don't like sleeping with the military.
GOODIN
You don't have to kiss us, $NM, just grit your teeth and close your eyes.
Better get a move on. You never know what's out there waiting for you...
PLAYER
Again, I'd rather deal with a monster than the military.
GOODIN
Have it your way, $NM.
I'll be here if you change your mind.

ADMIRAL TERRELL - MISSION A

Summary The next time you land at a mining base other than Rygannon, you will be approached by Sandra Goodin, an attaché to Admiral Terrell, who runs the Confederation navy in Gemini from his office at Petty Naval Base. She informs you that everywhere you've recently visited, ships have been destroyed. Something extremely dangerous is following you and the military wants to work with you to stop it. Payment None.
Requirements Go to Admiral Terrell's office at Perry Naval Base.
Opponents Three waves of hostile retro Talons (fanatical pros) at whichever of the following places you go through on your way to Perry Naval Base:

Ragnarok — Nay 2

Nitir — Nav 1

Midgard — Nav 1

Newcastle — Nav 5

New Detroit — Nav 7

Surtur — Nav 3

Tingerhoff — Nav 4

There are five ships in the first wave, three in the second and three in the third.

  • Cheat: If you can't seem to make it to a different mining base, then you will want to turn on INVULNERABILITY and fly to one. You will not be able to kill that drone just yet. Once at a mining base, you will encounter a mission from Sandra Goodin to go to Perry Naval Base. Just afterburn there and avoid fighting. You can fight anything you encounter by using the techniques above. - "Havoc"

WC:CIC Game Guide

Description

The Admiral has assembled an entire fleet to destroy the Steltek drone (AKA big green egg). He claims that all you need to do is fly to the ambush area and let the fleet blow it up, unfortunately it isn't that simple. Their guns can't hurt the thing, and neither can yours. Yet.

Objectives

Travel to Blockade Point Tango Nav 3 and meet Commodore Reismann. When the Steltek drone shows up, destroy it.

Scripted Encounters

Friendly Steltek scout at jump to Blockade Point Tango

Steltek drone at Blockade Point Tango Nav 3

Notes

  • When you meet the Steltek scout, have a friendly chat with it. Eventually it will agree to attach a booster to your Steltek weapon which will allow it to damage and destroy the Steltek drone.
  • At this point you should select the Steltek gun as your only weapon (any other weapons won't damage the drone and will just suck up your energy reserves), and jump through to the ambush point. When the drone shows up, destroy it.
  • When the drone is destroyed, you'll see the Steltek scout towing away the derelict base. Don't bother going to Delta Prime again because you won't be able to land and refuel to get back, but why would you want to go there anyway? You've won! Head back to Perry and collect your pay. You're now ready for the add-on... Righteous Fire! Although first you may want to talk to Terrell again for the Credits chat.

Mission : Steltek Drone

Comments : This mission really isn't TOO hard... Get behind the drone, target it, and keep blasting. Once it's main shields go down, fire all of your missiles/torpedoes and keep up the pounding with your Steltek Gun. The drone will fall quickly.

Mission : 1

Comments : You really need to avoid the drone's blasts, though. One salvo will rip through your shields and take a nice chunk of armour too. One more is likely to finish you off.

Mission : Terrell Mission 1

Comments : A subtle trap with this one - there are so many Confed ships floating all around trying to take a pot shot at the drone, be careful where you fire lest you hit the Confeds too often ;)

Mission :

Comments : Fire all of your missiles/torpedoes? Nonsense, they don't work. In fact, a real tip is to TURN OFF all your other guns, ONLY use the steltek gun, don't waste enery on guns that don't work.

Mission : PrivTerrell

Comments : It's the shields that make the drone impervious. Once those are taken down by the boosted Steltek cannon, normal weapons can hurt the drone. At that point, the Confed fleet can even be useful (just don't get hit by them yourself).
