The Ralaxath-Class Heavy Destroyer that served with the Kilrathi Empire during the latter stages of the Terran-Kilrathi War.
Class Overview
The Ralaxath-Class Heavy Destroyer was introduced in 2669 with the intent of adding additional firepower to the already formidable Kilrathi fleets. The Ralaxath was a heavily-armed, heavily-armored vessel that could hold its own against enemy capital ships and patrols. Its main purpose was to patrol and defend star systems of strategic importance to the Kilrathi, such as Freya and Kilrah. Unlike the Ralarrad-Class Light Destroyer, Ralaxaths did not carry a starfighter complement, and therefore flew with escorts when the need for self-defense arose. Nevertheless, the Ralaxath was a formidable warship and a force to be reckoned with by any Terran capital ship.
History
The Ralaxath was one of the newest classes of capital ship fielded by the Kilrathi Empire, having been introduced in 2669, the year of Kilrah's destruction. Due to its late entry into frontline service, the Terran Confederation was dumbstruck to have encountered these hulking war machines while preparing for the Temblor Bomb strike against Kilrah. They were first encountered by Colonel Christopher Blair and his wing during the liberation of Freya, who destroyed a number of them as part of operations to shake the Kilrathi's hold on the star system. The Colonel and his squadron later embarked on the Lancelot Flight, which would see the Temblor Bomb dropped on Kilrah. During their descent to the surface, the squadron encountered several Ralaxaths patrolling the Kilrah System, but they failed to stop the Colonel's assault and they were all destroyed. Any remaining Ralaxaths were likely destroyed when Colonel Blair destroyed Kilrah.
Whether or not the Ralaxaths continued service with the Kilrathi following the Empire's fragmentation is not known.
