FINLEY: You're up late. I thought all pilots needed their beauty sleep.
CASEY: I've given up sleep.
FINLEY: How long have you been up?
CASEY: Oh, 72 hours... maybe.
FINLEY: You can't keep doing that to yourself. Sooner or later it's going to affect your work, not to mention your health.
CASEY: So what makes you burn the midnight oil?
FINLEY: Now that we found a way to cut through the Alien jamming, we finally made contact with the Cats on E'Loy.
CASEY: And?
FINLEY: And, what I found was very strange. It seems that after the capitol city of E'Loy was attacked and destroyed, most of the Kilrathi disappeared.
CASEY: Disappeared? You mean, were killed.
FINLEY: No, I mean disappeared. Apparently, the aliens took a great many prisoners. Thousands. The few who remained sent me a data bundle on the alien craft. I'm processing that now but...
CASEY: But what?
FINLEY: As soon as I uploaded the data, I lost all contact with the Kilrathi. All the systems checked out. They're just not there. It's almost as if...
CASEY: As if, the E'loy had been consumed, like in the Kilrathi prophecy.
-
WARLORD: Who are you? You have killed many!
BLAIR: What do you want?
WARLORD: YOU!
-
FINLEY: Hey! Are you all right?

Finley, dressed casually, sitsat the neutral table. Casey
approaches, looking a little haggard, also just wearing his
shirt and pants FEATURE a Tea Set on the table, with a Candle
nearby.

Casey looks closely as Finley dips a tea bag into her cup. ECU
tea bag, as it rises out of the hot liquid and dangles.

INT. ALIEN TORTURE ROOM
A vague form, reminding us of the tea bag. Through a white hot
bath of light and lashings of red and yellow wisps reflected
through the smoke and atmosphere, we finally discern a pair of
boots. We hear sounds we cannot understand. Wailing. Growls.
High pitched whines.Camera cranes up. CU a pair of boots suspended over this light.
Is it fire? Plasma? The boots swing slightly, wrapped in a
membranous substance that covers the legs and waist. Camera
continues to crane up. REVEAL Blair, his flight suit torn, in a
ripped shirt. He's suspended upricht in a void, but tlt.ed back
at an unpleasant angle. He lifts his head blearily.FULL REVEAL of Blair, with small tendrils attached to his arms
neck and face. A cacophony of sounds blasts him. He reels.
sunds swirl to form words.
- ALIEN VOICE
- You have killed many...
- BLAIR
- (painfully)
- Tf it's information you want...this
- is gonna take a while.
The light grows painfully bright and a blast of smoke and wind
hits Blair from below. He's clearly suffering.
- ALIEN VOICE
- Now see what we see...the beauty of
- suffering ...the bliss of death.
- Through you, even the unaligned may
- see.
- BLAIR
- Go to hell!
Another blast, even more painful than the first. Blair writhes
in pain, flooded by the excruciating light. Then the light
slowly recedes.
- BLAIR
- (weakly)
- Who are you...?
Scratches and aliens sounds can be heard, no words. Blair again
sees shadows moving.

INT. MIDWAY REC ROOM (GUMP)
Finley is at the bar. She comes up...
- FINLEY
- Have a drink?
- CASEY
- Oh, thanks, Aurora. What’s new in your
- camp?

She gets closer to him.
- FINLEY
- You know, now that I've found a way to
- cut through the alien jamming, we've
- made contact with the Kats on E'Loy.
- CASEY
- Would these transmissions be
- classified?
- FINLEY
- (nods)
- Strictly need to know for senior
- officers. If a certain Lieutenant were
- to hear about it he'd be risking a
- court martial.
- CASEY
- (a grin)
What are you waiting for? Spill the beans.
- FINLEY
- What was once the capital city of E'Loy
- has been lain to waste. The Kilrathi
- have uploaded data on the alien craft
- and I'm processing it now.
- CASEY
- Do they require assistance?
- FINLEY
- There are too few Kat left to help. And
- apparently they count themselves lucky.
- The aliens took many prisoners...
- (long pause)
- CASEY
- And...?
- FINLEY
- And... that's it. I lost contact right
- after their data upload. I've been
- trying to reestablish communication for
- the last several hours to no avail.
- CASEY
- Not that I wanted to hear anything
- more.

INT. ALIEN SHIP TORTURE CHAMBER
A helpless, bound Blair has been strapped into a bizarre, alien-shaped
chair in a starkly lit chamber. Various machines are positioned around the
chair, ready to be moved into place when needed.
- BLAIR
- Who are you? What do you want?
Blair's chair suddenly swivels around, and a bank of bright lights shine
down into his face. His eyes blink. Beyond the lights we can barely make
out several shadowy figures.Blair struggles against his bindings as he hears strange rustlings and
moans in the shadows; sees bizarre shapes moving toward him.
- BLAIR
- Whatever you're planning to do; get it
- over with. I'm a busy man.
An adjustable appendage shaped like a giant wrench whines down from above
so that its open jaws frame Blair's head. Two thin, metal rods emerge from either side of the "wrench." As their
blinking tips touch his temples, Blair reacts with a start.
- BLAIR
- Damn you!
A GLOWING GLASS KNIFE now whines down from the ceiling on a steel armature.
It descends toward the helpless Blair. He struggles, but there's nothing he
can do. Ever so slowly, the knife nears his left eye. Blair screams.
INT. MIDWAY REC ROOM
-- As Casey abruptly wakes up, having fallen asleep on one of the tables.
He is alone in the Rec Room; clearly troubled by the lingering images of
the dream. At least it was just a nightmare -- or was it?
