A capable torpedo plane introduced immediately following the conclusion of the First Enigma Campaign, the Gothri is generally regarded as the Empire of Kilrah's most versatile fighter bomber. Unlike other one-off space superiority experiments like the Hhriss, the Gothri actually managed to see a good deal of line service. Gothri were seen as a necessary replacement for the aging Jalkehi heavy fighter, particularly among more elite squadrons. Khasra nar Kiranka, Crown Prince's right hand officer, transitioned to one of the first Gothri only to be killed in action flying the new fighter. Gothri saw significant service during the series of feints leading up to the Second and Third Enigma Campaigns.

The Gothri also shined in a second major role: long-range commerce raider. The Sixth Fleet of the Claw deployed dozens of small Gothri units along the frontier, each equipped with a multi-use jump drive, extended life support equipment and a formidable array of weapons. Self sufficient Gothri quickly became the bane of merchants and privateers in 'pacified' sectors like Gemini.
