Thanks for everyones feedback. Marc, despite the general response to your post, I think you made a valid point regarding design revamp. I think I have been a bit too conservative following the thin line between recognizable WC design features and totally alien ones. I shall try more radical enhancements from now on, while maintaining the overall WC feel.

Im sorry for the delay with this next image, It seems to be one that plagued me from the start. Nevertheless, people requested a redesigned bengal class, so I gave it a shot. Ironically the design now seems to be more kilrathi looking once finished :eek:

Thanks guys! Im glad you dont think it looks kilrathi, i was a bit worried about it. Also I was wondering if people had any thoughts on the image itself, i.e. do people prefer to see the raw concept art feel or this more rendered slightly sharper look? Any requests on which ship I should try next?
 
That's what I call eyecandy :D

In my opinion this one is perfect. Really looks like a modernized version of the Bengal which still stays completely true to the original.

Well, finally it seems to be time to change my desktop background image.


Oh, and a ship request? I would love to see a Ralari :)
 
You have fantastic work here, but that last Bengal is just awesome. It’s dark tone gives it an aggressive look, definitely a military ship.
Please continue to produce such fantastic images, it’s a pleasure to watch.
Would it be too much to ask for some 1280x800 resolution images? :)

Yeah, I definitely need a high resolution version in 4:3 dimensions, if you can do that... that Bengal gives me a nerdgasm! :D
 
Yes the Bengal ship is indeed a mean looking ship but why is that one hellcat all by its self? Unless you’re going to say that’s maniac being him self and not following orders like always? And I would really like to see how you would make both Rapier look cause thought’s are my favorite fighters in Wing Commander. But as for Capital ships I think before trying to do a Kilrathi ship you should keep on with the Confed side of ships until you can but together a small fleet so you could try on big wallpaper with all your ship together to show off you skills in one big way.

And that Bengal’s (Tigers Claw)is sitting nicely on my desktop!
 
Thanks guys, I'm glad you like the Bengal redesign. As requested here is a higher res image for desktops. I think you're right Milatry, I will do Confed ships first. So any Ideas which one I should do next?

I'd suggest the Tarawa, it's a large fan favorite though reference art might be little hard to come by. Barring that, isn't the Eisen the official CIC ship? I'm not sure what class it is, though.
 
I would suggest a destroyer to go with the cruiser you made and Exeter or a Gilgamesh but I think one ship most fans want to see is the Confederation class Dreadnought and if you could make it look as dangerous as the Bengal is it would be great.
 
Great job, czacen.
But unlike many of the other guys I have to say that even with all those menacing ships flying around (the Bengal not being it the good ol' horizontal position is a refreshing one) my personal favorite is the flight deck. It's nice, clean and artsy. And I'm thinking about putting it on my wall, maybe along with the "Nebula Ranger" one. Anyway keep up the good work I'm waiting for your next picture (maybe some battle fleet?).
 
love the re-designs the bengal is awsome but the original will always be my fave, look forward to seeing any more you do. (might try and do a lightwave model of your re-design once i get round and finish the classic!)

@ Jason_Ryock; the tarawa sound fun, i did a little research into escort carriers of ww2 and it would be a design challenge to picture the same concept in WC terms. btw the eisen is a vesuvius class.

@Milatry; yet another fan fave. it will be quite a feat detailing a dreadnought class and a lot of fun.

@_bombush_; thanks bombush, im glad you liked the images. can you tell me if u mean wall as in desktop wallpaper or wall as in wall in the house? either way im honored by the compliment.

@Tr00per; id love to see your lightwave model. please post it here when u get to it.

so now the choice is between the tarawa and cordia. is there a way to make a quick poll for this? i cant find the option anywhere and i checked the faq.
