Hi my old longing for MT-32 is rekindled by the emulation program MUNT.
When I was playing Wing Commander when I was young, I can only afford a soundblaster, and MT-32 was an impossible dream. I recently picked up MUNT and I was astounded by its sound quality. It's so beautiful even by today's standard. Now I'd really like to play all the WC1 and WC2 music in its full MT-32 glory. I don't have time to play the game from beginning to end, so I'd just like to play the midi files. I remember they are available here, but now they are gone. I searche on the net, and I do find the whole set of WC midi files here: http://www.dcee.net/Files/Music/Midi/
But unfortunately these are in General Midi format, and the site says that the files are converted from MT-32 to General Midi. The one who did the conversion wrote:
"One fine day, while playing with the files in WC2, I noticed an inconspicous file by the name of MUSIC.R00. Holding down my excitement, I ran it through EXMOD. Lo and behold, a collection of all the music MID's in the game! After briefly converting them with MTTOGM, I had playable MID's from Wing Commander II!"
I downloaded EXMOD, but it's a very old program and refuses to run on the current Windows. Is there any other ways around? Looking forward to your help and thanks a lot!
