Hi, me again :P

So I just got WC3 in the mail, it installed fine, but the movies were skipping, I upped the cycles to 20000 and that fixed the videos, they run very smoothly. But now when i get in the cockpit the game slows to about 1-3 FPS, the weird thing is that if i run the simulator the game runs fine.

I have a AMD athlon 64 X2 Duel core 3800+ at 2.0ghz each
3 gigs of ram
Geforce 8800GT with 512 ram
on Vista 32 bit home edition
 
I would recommend trying the game with dynamic core enabled (or core=auto if you are using 0.72 might work too) and setting the cycles even higher.

This causes the video and sound to become choppy :/ (not the core change, dont notice a difference with just the core change)

Edit: For WC4 there was a dos to windows patch, is there something like that for WC3?
 
Hmm, well i kinda found a medium, sound and video is "ok" and the space flight runs smoothly.. its playable now atleast, but if anyone has any other suggestions im all ears

I'm pretty sure that there was never a Windows 95 patch for WC3. The only Windows 95 version of WC3 that I know of was the Kilrathi Saga version.

There's a hack that involves using the Kilrathi Saga exe with the dos CDs but it breaks the music because the game won't find the digital versions because the DOS version used MIDIs.

How fast is your processor? 20,000 isn't quite enough to run WC3 smoothly, but if your processor isn't fast enough, going about 20k will cause the computer to choke and slow down. As you seem to have done, you need to tweak it to get the most speed that your system can comfortably output. Core=auto attempts to do this automatically. In addition to adjusting the cycles, you can also up the frameskip.
