Yeah - my big problem is, well... I'm a college student. All my money I'm willing to spend on music stuff, and I do, but usually on instruments. I do a lot of writing in lots of different styles, so I need something that'll be very good for a low cost, but I have no need to create a studio - at least not at present. I just need something that every composer can use that will sound very good.
My computer is new - just got it in September, so it has the power to run pretty much anything at this point.
It's a P4, 3 GHz with a gig of RAM. I've been using the Kontakt Player Silver that comes with Sibelius and it runs fine - the problem is it tops out at 8 channels. The full version has 32, hence why I was thinking about it. It's also inexpensive (only $150).
Really what I need are better accoustic instruments. I love the synth sounds on my Korg, but the accoustic instruments aren't very good anymore - epsecially in the thicker scores I've been writing lately.
I will be looking into some of the stuff you reccomended - thanks.
