The Price of Freedom stuff...

The Broadsword was the best in WCA. It kicked a lot of butts. Too many turret guns, I guess plus the triple mass driver cannons.

Turn me loose, Colonel.
This is what I live for!

I have the pc and the playstation version and yes you have missed some things.Exemple ,on the psx version you don't see the scene of Blair talking alone with Panther and you have some mission that are missing.I suggest you to buy the pc version because I think that this game is not very expensive right now.

Personally, I hated the Sabre. I thought it was wayyyy too weak and the guns sucked. The only good thing about was that it had lots of missiles. The Ferret could take a beating for a fighter it's size. I had an Epee blow up after one missile hit at full shields. The WC2 Rapier was by far the worst ship in WC1 and WC2. It did very little damage and it couldn't take any hits (if you don't believe me fly the first mission with Hobbes at Ghorah Khar, all those turrets, I don't want to think about it). The most under rated ship was the Scimitar. It could take a pounding and deal out one too. I felt safer in one than in a Rapier. Anyway, thats my take on some of the fighters.

For some reason, I feel it necessary to post here that the WC II Broadswords needed WAY more armour for those damned anti-cap ship / bombing run missions... If not more armour, then more shields... Could never get enough time.

My dad had a hell of a time with it too... Burn in, take a beating, turn around (still in flak range), recharge front shields, and take a beating on the arse, turn around, repeat...

If he screwed up at all, well, the rest is vacuum, boys and gals.

Maestro: "Lighten up Spyder! We're not gonna die! We're gonna WIN!!"

Zero: "Hey, Maestro... Uhh... If you DIE, can we pick through your stuff before we head back to Sol?"

Maestro: "You can burn in Hell."

If you karked it in an Epee with full shields, you must be pretty unlucky! I guess we all have our own preferences and opinions.

Yeah well I always get nailed in a sabre, rapier, or epee. I make it back, but heavily damaged. Yesterday I flew the mission in WC2 where you have to escort the Tell to kill a Ralagtha. Grikath are attacking on launch and of course Stingray is gone immediately and I ahve to deal with five Grikaths in a Rapier. Well I killed them but took some damage, lost a few missiles. Then, the last one decides to fire a missile at my weak front shields, knocking out a particle cannon and 2 missiles. Those turrets really suck. I nailed that sucker and took off for the Ralagtha. 5 Jaltheki are waiting. So I go in, attacking with a pair of lasers, one particle cannon. I took one out but took damage from a turret, knocked out the last particle cannon. Then I chased the Jaltheki, and lost the rest of my missiles. So with a pair of lasers I tried to coral the fighters towards the Tell so they would get nailed by flak. But of course the 3 or 4 remaining decide to know out one of my lasers. Now I have no shields, the ejection sign was flashing but stopped(it was heavily damaged. Armor is gone for the most part. I tried to run around and did so until the Tell anit-mattered the Ralagtha (it took awhile). Luckily two fighters collided destroying each other, then I chased the last one in to flak, firing my laser. I finally got that bastard with the Tell's help. That was probably one of the roughest missions I have ever flown. No need to describe my encounter with Jalthi while flying in a Dralthi.

Man, now I guess I need to play the PC version of WC4...it's my favorite one, in terms of story and cut-scene quality....those sets were amazing....

Been a while since I've played WC 2, but I tend to stick to guns, so loosing missiles wouldn't have mattered much to me. But I agree, sometimes I'd get too eager on a Grikath or a Jalkehi, and then forget about the neutron turrets. Good thing their turrets aren't rapid fire!
