You live in Southie? A bunch of my coworkers are from there. Sounds like an interesting town - as long as you don't park in someone's marked spot on the street once they dig their car out after a snow storm.

EDIT - Worst sentence ever, but alas it's Friday afternoon...

Used to live in Southie, and you're right, parking in someone elses spot marked by a chair, or even just in front of their house is pretty much a death sentence for their car. I loved it their though and would love to go back. It's one of the few "Irish slums" left in Boston.
