First mission off of the T.C.S. Lexington...

The Bearcats are great, like a lighter Excalibur, lighter guns, faster and more manuverable, a little less missiles (at least than the Excal in WC3) bettr shields and armor.

Here are the stats for the Bearcat:
speed 550kps
afterburners 1400kps
Y/P/R 90 dps
shields 280cm
armor 150cm

Death: I know that you go after the frigate in the next mission & get more kills but in the first mission that frigate's just sitting there asking to be nailed. Also sending Longbows after it is kind of like overkill. Still the nice thing about the mission where you're supposed to nail the frigate is that you actually get escorts for a change

Dralthi5 & Earthworm: The Bearcat's overrated. Sure it's fast & nimble but it's guns eat up the gun pool too quickly. The Excalibur's a much more solid fighter. I read somewhere that the Bearcat's propulsion system was problematic so they replaced it with the Wasp - for once Confed makes the right call IMHO.

Actualy it's not, the only thing that bothers me about the guns is that they have wide spacing between them but the autotracking computer makes up for that. IMO the Circe/Speradon missions should have been earlier in the game so we could fly the Bearcat more. And now since I was so rudly interupted by that stupid teacher here's the continuation of the BEARCAT STATS

guns 4 light Tachyon guns
missiles 8 medium missile hardpoints
decoys 24
special abilities autoslide, autotracking guns

I don't know if you can leach it, but you should destroy all three engines, destroy all turets (you can do it very quickly and without taking any damage, just fly into the hangar and blast them from the inside) then fly around the carrier for a few seconds just in case you mised any turets. To finish the mission shoot at the carrier untill your computer says mission acomplished. Oh don't forget to check if there are any leached fighters if you used leach guns or missiles on any, if there are you will not hear mission acomplished and you will probably shoot at the ship until it blows.

The "capture of the TCS Princeton" mission always confused me, too. Didn't get the hang of it until I replayed WC4. The carrier has to sustain 50% damage before you get "Mission accomplished" and the TCS Johns Hopkins jumps in.

Speaking of Circe/Speradon, I have the PlayStation version of Wing 4 and you are forced to go to Speradon no matter what. In the PC version, do you get a choice to go to Circe?

If so, what do you do here and why the hell was it cut from the PSX version?

And while I'm on the subject, why are all the ground missions cut on the PSX, both in Wing 3 and 4?

Yeah in the PC version you can chose to go to Circe, but there you only help civies, don't get any weapons like in Speradon.

The Circe and Speradon missions both have some "special theme". In Speradon you are dependent on the success of a second flight. In Circe there is one mission in the planet's atmosphere (a three time shuttle escort) and one timed ground mission (destruction of tanks before they reach a weather control station). In both missions you are limited to fly the Vindicator.

Well it has to be BWS, don't know about the rest, maybe it's diferent in the game and novel, and he got it from one of those.

Did you destroy all turets/fighters (even leached fighters)? Maybe the one torp didn't give it enough damage.

Did you go back to the Intrepid leaving the ship with that damage, or did you shot it untill it blew up? It is possible that you didn't give it that much damage after all.

Than either some turets or fighters must be left. Fly around the carrier for a few seconds and see if any turets shot at you. Few times I mised some turets, and I failed the mission.

Sorry for the TCS/BWS slip. Of course, it's the BWS Johns Hopkins
smile.gif
.
To get the mission done, there are five objectives to complete:

The second flight has to complete its mission

You have to knock all escort fighters out

All turrets have to be destroyed

The engines of the carrier have to be leeched

The carrier has to show 50% damage

Then the BWS Johns Hopkins will jump in and the mission is complete. The thing that goes wrong in most of the tries is the mission of the second flight. Listen to the comm messages at NAV1 closely. If they fail completing their objective you may as well give up your part.

Realistically this mission kind of sucks. Wilford says that the carrier is undergoing repairs. If so wouldn't it have escort cap ships, especially since Confed is low on carriers & can't afford to have one nicked.
Anyways considering cap ships can be leached easily it makes no sense to have to destroy the engines, turrets or leached fighters. Also damaging the carrier to 50% means that internal cargo, what we're really after, is damaged reducing the success of the mission.

How do you complete the mission where you have to leech the Bearcats? They always ram into me and destroy themselves, resulting in the failure of my mission!

Doesn't that path of the game lead to the "General Blair" ending?

Nope, you get the flight istructor ending if Panthers morale is higher and the general ending if Hawks morale is higher. If you agree with Hawk in most conversations, chose to go to Speradon, destroy Ella, stuff like that than you will get the general ending.

What was the advantage of defending the civvies?

No advantage. Could make you feel good to defend some civies instead of going for weapons that kill people.
