At the rate they're going, animes will be the worst competitor of performers when it comes to scifi. The reason I avoid animes is because it is hard to identify with them. But then, I have been refering to the Japanese genre. I'll see Titan along with the rest of my family. Could be different.

he he.. the fact that you know the Sailor Moon people is in itself scary. Not all anime is bad though. Some of the "mech" anime is pretty well written, and the Macross/Robotech set is a pretty good space opera.

Uh... I think I watched Akira on the SciFi Channel a few years ago, I can't remember.

All things considered, though, I'd rather rent some war movies instead of anime.

Hummm, "Akira", "Ghost in the Shell", these are great. So are the "Evangelion" and "Records of Lodoss War" series. I also enjoyed the "Macross Plus" movie. All my personal favourites.
