CAP

CAP stands for Combat Air Patrol. Combat Air Patrol can be an offensive or defensive force of fighters used in a space superiority or fleet defense role.

There are several variations of the classic Combat Air Patrol.

• FORCAP (Forward Combat Air Patrol)
  • A fighter sweep ahead of advancing forces

• TARCAP (Targeted Combat Air Patrol)
  • Air Superiority Mission in a specific area

• BARCAP (Barrier Combat Air Patrol, or blockade)
  • Blockade line fighter support and patrol
