Kilrah is a star system in the Kilrah sector and is comprised of eight planets in seven orbits, two asteroid belts and the remains of the planet Kilrah, the destroyed home world of the Kilrathi. As such, Kilrah was the throne world of the Kilrathi Empire until its collapse in 2669 at the conclusion of the Terran-Kilrathi War.

System History
The Kilrah system was once the very heart of the expansive Kilrathi Empire. It was the political, military, cultural and economic center of the Kilrathi Empire, and among the most heavily-fortified systems in the known galaxy. The system was raided twice by the Confederation, once in 2667 and fatally in 2669. In 2667, as part of Operation Back Lash, Strike Force Valkyrie raided the Kilrah system causing heavy losses on Kilrah's moon, Largkza. However, by 2669, the Kilrathi were close to victory in the war against the Terrans. Desperate to save Earth, the Confederation launched three major efforts to conquer Kilrah. The first was a strike by the TCS Behemoth, which was ultimately destroyed before reaching the Kilrathi home system. The second was an attempt to use the Y22A-1 Temblor Bomb on Kilrah in a strike launched by the TCS Eagle, however the carrier was forced to turn back. The third was Lancelot Flight, during which Colonel Christopher Blair launched the Temblor Bomb on Kilrah and destroyed the planet, ending the war in a total Confederation victory. After Kilrah's destruction, the Kilrah system's strategic importance and population was greatly reduced, and the survivors were forced to relocate to other star systems. The remnants of Kilrah formed an asteroid field by 2681, a somber memorial to the Kilrathi Empire's former glory.
The Kilrathi system became open to the Confederation after the war, and proved to be a valuable source of natural resources. Most of its Confederation visitors were miners and scientists, and included Terrans and Firekkans.
In 2681, Kilrah returned to prominence when an alien race known as the "Nephilim" invaded the Orion Arm of the galaxy by occupying Kilrah as a site for a wormhole gate from Fluid Space. It was here that a civilian research ship, the TCS Devereaux was destroyed by the Nephilim, alerting the Confederation to a new threat. Kilrah was quickly occupied and became a Nephilim stronghold.
Kilrah was liberated after a concentrated assault on the wormhole gate by Confederation forces from the TCS Midway and TCS Eisen. In a twist of irony, Commodore Christopher Blair, the pilot responsible for the destruction of Kilrah, was among the Confederation officers leading the assault.
